ADRIMEL

Haydock 18 December
Virgin Bet Novices' Chase (GBB Race)
2m½f, Class 3, £7,563.27
Going: Soft

I was expecting great things from Adrimel last term. Unfortunately the wheels fell off after a good start, although he was highly tried. Matters didn’t seem to have improved on his chasing debut last time at Exeter where he was pulled up behind Gladiateur Allen. Lacey took the blame for running him without headgear on ground not soft enough. He had both ground and blinkers today as well as his mojo back and it was good to see.

Only a small race, but he jumped well and made short work of a decent enough favourite. He should go on from here.

Down to run in the plate on thursday at a big price.what do you think?

Runs at thurles tomorrow in the bumper, same jockey.probably have to wait until it goes hcap hurdling.
Just a watching brief tomorrow.

2nd today 33/1 in a 5 runner race won by 1/5 fav.still Nh flat race same jockey.i dont think hes had a winner for 8 yrs.lol

from post #177

I don't imagine this will be a dark horse when it reappears but certainly worth noting.

Haydock Saturday 19 Feb - Albert Bartlett Hurdle - Crystal Glory

In a very strongly run event, one of three over the CD on the day, the impressive winner Hillcrest went to the top of my ratings for the Albert Bartlett hurdle at the festival. He burned off impressive recent winner Green Book by the two-mile mark but Crystal Glory, more patiently ridden, kept tabs with him most of the way up the straight and was ultimately only beaten eight lengths in receipt of 5lbs. With the winner going up to 148, a literal interpretation of the form at a pound to a length would have the runner-up on 135. He's been raised to 131.

I think 148 undervalues the winner and I don't think a pound per length applies in heavy ground at three miles. I reckon Crystal Glory is 150 horse waiting to happen. He just needs to recover from this excellent effort in tough conditions.

Runs on Friday in the Sefton. I'm very keen to see how he gets on, eschewing the prospect of an easy handicap win for a G1. I wasn't anticipating that when I suggested he's one to follow!

If he is the 150 horse I think he might be, he could well win this.

Bugger! I somehow managed to lose all my tracker entries, so I'm afraid I can’t post the upcoming. Apologies.

Crystal Glory went into my tracker as well after Haydock. The Sefton looks fearsome competitive but the fav does look short enough with stamina to prove, especially if the rain comes (which would suit CG obviously). 8/1 with four places paid is acceptable.

I backed Crystal Glory as soon as the market went up presuming he'll shorten before the race, and he's since been backed.

He goes there fresh, and the favourite Bambridge would have had a tough enough race at Cheltenham in the Pipe, and on his revised terms he wouldn't have won it. Crystal Glory on the other hand looks thrown in off 137 looks very generous. Nicky Richards horses are also running very well at the moment.

Of the dangers, Skytastic steps up significantly in trip and may or may not improve for it, but his price is too short to find out, and it's very late in the season for them to find out if it's the trip he wants. It also feels like a compromise to split him and Good Risk At All (2m4f) up. I admit he could be anything though.

Green Book is smart, but there may not be whole lot left in his mark, and Venetia's form since the Festival has been rancid. He looks exposed now, with cross form that puts him behind a few of these.

Gelino Bello skipped the Festival for this and rates a danger. Particularly on his form behind Blazing Khal if you rate that one. I think he could still be ahead of his mark. He was beaten by Cobblers Dream (2nd to Banbridge and now 140), but had to give him 10lbs. Taking that literally he would be a few pounds ahead of Banbridge. Combined with his backform he surely has to be thereabouts.

Bowtogreatness at 20/1 looks unexposed with some nice form in the book, and he's one for each way backers with extra places.

For me it's Crystal Glory with Gelino Bello next best.

It would be very generous if this were a handicap, which is why I'm amazed they're risking blowing it (131, btw, rather than 137) by going for a G1.

What is going on with Zoffanien...he's been ridden completely wrong last 2/3 runs over trips too far. What's he handicapping him for? Galway Hurdle?

If you have found one Treff dont complain just have patience.then when the time comes fill your boots.
I'm going to put it in my alerts.

He's down to a winning mark now...with Hogan you just never know. This horse still has huge ability...a question of when to pull the trigger as you said.
