Occupations

I see no offers of money are forthcoming, so, it serves you tightwads right:-

I worked as a fish-filleter, but sadly lost my plaice.

I worked as a tree surgeon, but decided to branch out.

I trained as a shoe repairer, but couldn't give it my awl.

I worked in meteorology - my mates were a right shower.

I was a golf professional, but eventually got teed-off.

I was once a well-known historian, but that's now all in the past.

I was training in archaeology, but found I just didn't dig it.

I was a mortician, but it was a dead-end job.

I worked in a pet-grooming parlour, but found I was always dog-tired.

I was a keeper at Sea World, until the job lost its porpoise.

I was training to be a neurologist, but the exams got on my nerves.

I was a football player, but lost sight of my goals.

I used to be a filing clerk, until the boss got into my drawers.

Okay, this is your last chance to stop any more. Send £3000 in used notes to Auntie Kri before tomorrow night... I've got to pay for COMPTON PLACE somehow!

Ho-ho-ho, Maurice! ;)

I tried my hand at crop-picking, but couldn't cut the mustard.

I went in for sheep-rearing, but my suppliers fleeced me.

I trained as a driving instructor, but that came to a full stop.

Still no offer of cash to stop me? It'll go on and on until someone antes up, you know... <_<

I worked as a blackjack hostess, but was sadly handed my cards...

I worked at night as a croupier, but they said I'd had my chips...

I worked for a while as a rope-maker, but began to feel tied down...

One was too restrictive and the other went tits up?

What an intriguing thread.......

Anyway, since this is page 8, and I am sure no one cares, but oh well posting I will be be posting anyway because I am not exactly the most active poster alive.

I work full time in the city of Sydney in an insurance agency in the claims department, its a complete step back in the opposite direction from my previous job where I was an insurance broker servicing the McDonald's Australia (as in Big Mac) account, working for a world class brokerage.
It would be considered a top class job for a young business professional, but it was never a rewarding career and the stress and pressure it carried became too much to handle. Working 12 hour days, servicing over 300 licensees nationwide plus the Corporation, it was a hassle. Plus I had to fit in uni studies and my voluntary job.

Decided to get out, and did in March, and now have gone from a company that has over 66,000 employees, to one that only has 25, and is family owned and run.
It was the best thing I ever did, the people are great, the pay is good, its not as high demanding as my previous job, and they pay for me to do my studies, another bonus. They also work around my shooting as well, and show a lot of interest in it.

Grand Armee.

I did exactly the same thing about 6 years ago. I went from a multi million turnover company to a small company with less than 10 employees and I only wish I had done it 10 years previously.

The hours are still fairly long but I get to go racing whenever I want, and in return I don't mind doing the out of hours calls etc. I have my little dog in the office every day, I moved the offices to a lovely rural location so I can go for walks when the phones are quiet - especially when it is sunny.

At the moment we are horrendously busy with a major contract for Marks and Spencers BUT this will end in a couple of weeks, and normal service will be resumed. Busy is good for the company BUT it does get in the way of my racing sometimes. B)
