Odds compiling

An angle in copying Bet365's prices! I've no doubt I could beat the firm he works for. Bet365 strive to deliver product not price efficiency.

Their in-running models are supposed to be some of the most accurate in the industry though.

Also liquidity is so weak on Betfair on some markets now that old fashioned compiling and following the money has taken over from "the machine" in some areas, especially earlies on horses.

They're built up from thousands (possibly hundreds of thousands) of matches, stats etc. though whether they take into account the nuances of various leagues (for football for example) is another matter.

I hope one of them is basketball over the festive period :)

Everyone has been cleaning up on basketball here, some firms are well out on the total points market according to the model, you could blindly back the model but its one of them sports were they quickly limit you.

There are more mistakes in racing early prices because every firm compiles them almost the same way.

They are the most accurate and respected models in the industry. Bet365 controls football but with the sheer amount of matches they cover and like someone said, i do feel they fail to take into account the nuances of some obscure leagues and so you can find opportunities daily to trust your model and make some money, but again you will find yourself limited very, very quickly.

The whole football market is governed by Asia (within reason) - the price will move with the Asian firms and then move in the UK.

One of the big firms was caught ripping 188bet prices off directly, a few smaller firms still do, its quite obvious which ones.

Chaps, do betting firms compare notes on which punters have winning accounts/have been restricted/consider need watching?

Well enough of them have stopped me. That STAR firm said no problem opening your account sir and we take large bets. Half an hour later , sorry sir cannot do it. But why, "you know an awful lot of people "

Virtually every online bookmaker is a subscribing client of "Iesnare".
If you have ever had a transaction with an online bookmaker it is a given that the Iesnare script has been implanted on your computer.
Iesnare records all your betting activity and shares this info-data across the network with all its subscribers. Iesnare monitors your betting activity as you move across different gambling websites.
So yes, bookmakers have an "eye" on your winning wagers with all other bookmakers.

Its really a depressing business once you get on the inside. It is immoral really. Limit any winning clients or worse, refuse their business and unscrupulously target those who clearly have an addiction and encourage irresponsible gambling.

If that is how your firm operate you should probably contact the Gambling Commission.

Simple way round this, use a smartphone WAP site or just phone up! I was getting laid what I wanted with 365 on the dog and bone at one point even though we were battering Betfair SP with every bet for about 6 weeks. Wouldn't have lasted 48 hours on the internet.

Don't work there anymore but you must have only shown an interest in backing live ones in the morning. They make absolutely no apologies that they're not interested in laying lumpy early business which will shorten but if you want £40k on a 6/4 poke in the Guineas which is 2.6 on Betfair then they'll lay it in seconds which to be fair, even the big five would take an age over.

It's firms like Stan James that get me, I got closed for one bet of £200 a 9/4 poke which went off 7/2. Only bet on the account!

To an extent, yes.
But unfortunately, each smartphone -- similar to every other device capable of connecting to the internet -- has its own M.A.C. address. This MAC address is a unique identifier number which will be linked to your bookmaker account .......... and consequently flags you.

I do think, tho', that many bookmaking firms take a more lenient attitude towards customers who bet via smartphone apps. Maybe apocryphal, but there are many reports from ordinary punters evidencing the fact that they can "get on" via phone when they are heavily restricted online.
I believe this anomaly could be down to the basis that bookies are agressively encouraging and marketing their customers toward mobile betting platforms away from the computer. No better example of this "push" than the current money-back-if-second super offers from Hills and Lads daily for the past month. :)
