If someone could share the decs when they have them (I'm looking at you, Roger ) that would be just peachy.

Brelan Das could be the best handicapped horse in the race. Just one problem - he's a fu*cking pig.

Think the market has it pretty-much spot-on. Winner has to come from first half-dozen in the betting, for me.

The one I like least of the principals is the Jolly. I have him down as an absolute softie.

Spiritofthegames more than once (essentially when I've backed him) has struck me as unwilling to engage in a tough battle.

He might have the winning of a big race if he drops a bit in the weights and can be brought wide and late, maybe even on a short run-in, but if it comes to a battle of bottle my money would be on him as the first to crash.

I’ve paid the hard way to discover that DO but the day I don’t back him in one of these...

And something had to take the place of Buywise.

GL with that one, ep; sooner take Mister Fisher to rubber-stamp Donny form with him, at this trip.

Of the outsiders Sky Pirate will carry my money. Jonjo is particularly adept at targeting this race. Now to see who pilots. Kevin Brogan taking 5lbs off would do nicely!!!

Don't do it to yourself! Must be one of the ultimate plunge horses only to always let you down.

I'm not sure what to make of the race and apart from the longshot mentioned on that thread I'm happy to wait and see what is eventually declared with which jockey.

Saint Sonnet looks priced up on reputation.

Simply The Betts is one I'm on for the festival but it will need to be a festival horse to win off this mark. It might be but is priced as though he already is.

Mister Fisher will need to find 10lbs into his second season but other novices are already rated some way higher on my figures and might be entitled to find the same improvement.

Similar remarks apply to Al Dancer but there's a fair chance NTD will have him 110% for it.

That's the first four in the market and it's not difficult to find reasons why they can't win.

For me, that makes it a very open race.

I can see me backing Aso at a nice price and Brelan D'As looks like JP's only runner in a race he'll want to win.

I can see Spiritofthegames leading over the last but being outfought by one or two up the hill. By which I just ain't sure.

20/1 with Burke on board Paul. I'm happy with that and he's won on his only ride for the yard in the past couple of weeks.

I'll be backing him too. He has looked an absolute bridle ponce and I'd be going in strong if it was 20/1 in a "to be 2nd" market but fingers crossed his second run after a wind op does the trick. It was criminal the way he stopped when pulling level with Cool Mix last time out but there is no doubt he has the ability win off a mark of 134, it's just whether he has the will.

I couldn't have written my own thoughts on him any better Lee. All the talent in the world, but hates to go through with it. I am convinced however that he has a mark that uis well behind his ability and his price make him the perfect each way/place horse.

The other horse I've warmed to is Al Dancer. Unexposed over the trip that he's now had a chance to prove he gets with a tidy win when prepping for this. If PTKO is as good as I think she is, and taking his mark relative to her potential and the new mark for Rouge Vif he has to be a major player. As I previously wrote I liked Count Meribel and Twister has chosen Al Dancer over him for the race. Also Twister has come back to form with a bang this week so pif I have the courage of the convictions of my words earlier I have to back him. So I've taken the plunge each way, and also put him in a related double with PTKO in the Schloer.

My final bets for this race are:

Simply The Betts 12/1 each way antepost
Sky Pirate 20/1 each way
Al Dancer 10/1 each way

Incidentally for anyone that hasn't picked this up Skybet are now 6 places for the PP Gold Cup and the usual 11 places on the Masters.

A winner for Twister this afternoon with Robinshill has swayed me towards Al Dancer again

Edit: Just seen the first home was DSQ as the jockey didn’t weigh in

I have Slate House ante-post for this (got to take a view when the entries come out, right?), but the closer we get to post-time, the more I like Simply The Betts. Strikes me as having the class to give weight away in a top-end handicap, and go onto better things.

I have Saint Sonnet as a mincer, but give Mister Fisher and Happy Diva maximum respect. Coole Cody strikes me as best of the outers.

Does money talk?

Siruh Du Lac is the best backed horse is the race recently.

Also nibbles for Sky Pirate.

Rather than bleed-out backing Pipe horses, have you considered just having a ‘wayhay’ bonfire of all your cash, and going skint with a bang?
