Paddy Power Gold Cup

I live about 30 m away as the crow flys and it hasnt stopped raining for a week.strange they havent had any.

It's rained heavily in Cheltenham for periods every day for a good 10 days now.

Just goes to show how dry it was and how well it drains, it's also been very windy.

I backed Happy Go Lucky last night. Trainer thinks he’s GC class and if he’s race fit after so much time off he might have a chance although the PP might be a bit short for him. KB was very good at getting Longshanks fit to run in the National all those years ago.

"Exotic Dancer went on to become a 177 horse, running Kauto Star to half a length in the Betfair Chase but was only rated 139 when winning this."

It hurts. It hurts!

One Man won the Henessy off 10stone then won 2 King George's  179 Go Figure

Yeah, all those years ago. Not the same trainer. He chatted some bollocks about how good Vinndication and Imperial Aura were as well.

All trainers have horses they rate very highly and talk them up accordingly.

Bailey recently had First Flow start the season winning a handicap off 148 and ending the season on 162 after hitting 166 en route.

And he did okay with Two For Gold last season.

He's a positive for me.

Fair enough with First Flow and I'm probably being harsh but he is one of these trainers who talks his horses up all the time. I like realism.

Getting back to the racing at Cheltenham I have already put up 2 NR in the big one so I am leaving it alone

Still we have a treat in store Tommy's Oscar V Banbridge.:)

Don't say I never told you Tommy's Oscar might win the Arkle which I did.
Ok Ok it'sa the wrong Arkle but i'm not admitting that:lol:

No doubt in my mind Banbridge's win in the Martin Pipe 11.3 was a much better performance than Tommy's poor Champion Hurdle effort

I don't know if the fences at Gowran are hard or easy but Banbridge never touch a twig all the way round and even when he was asked to step up the tempo his jumping just got better,

As much as I like Tommy's Oscar I have to go for Banbridge 2/1 bfe who really could end up a Festival winner again.

Dammit! Just nailed on the line with French Dynamite....and I was starting to feel smug with my second TTF list having already had Banbridge.

No surprise about the result for me but I was very disappointed with the ride Skelton gave Midnight River. It's not like Skelton to be so far back and so wide. Is it possible he was over-confident?

He won't go up for today so maybe the Massey-Ferguson will see different tactics with the likelihood of softer ground by then.

Well done Ga Law backers.

Make ya sick and in October 2020 GA law won with Darly Jacob and I put him up as a future Cheltenham winner........Such is life Dessie deserves a clap on the back as he put him to win this right at the start while stupid heid here deserted him.

Does anyone know if Stolen Silver is ok? The race report said albeit galloping past the line he was found to be lame by the vet. Hope it’s nothing serious.

No wonder you were so keen to get the competition up and running !
Well picked.

Of course! No actually I felt it was pretty poor that we had waited until the second Cheltenham meeting to start. DG was never so slack!

Ga Law raised 6lbs for the win.

I reckon that's pretty lenient.

They went fast and I'll be surprised if the form doesn't prove to be strong.

I also see Outsider's longshot DDC ran on well into fifth place. Might be worth keeping him in mind for the Massey-Ferguson.

I'm maybe being hypercritical but I was disappointed with the ride Nassalam got. Given how far to his left he jumped at Ascot I expected him to rail the whole way round but Moore kept him wider and allowed him to jump left again. He wouldn't have lost as much ground as at Ascot but he probably lost an average of a length per fence. It will count for nothing if he's allowed to keep jumping left regardless of the track.

If they don't think him capable of railing left-handed he'll struggle to win anything serious.

I will tread carefully with GA Law after the way he tailed off last season.

I could be wrong but he may be the type that doesn't take a lot of racing.
