With regards to Kauto Star, he is certainly no back number, but he wouldn't mix it with either of the aforementioned at the business end over 2 miles.

It's certainly a whole different ball game than beating Voy Por Ustedes in testing conditions that the latter has never found ideal.

Kauto's one of those horses who is unbeatable over distances other than his optimum *when it's his day* and he gets and keeps it all together. But he is a bit of a thinker - he doesn't always concentrate, he gets careless and makes mistakes; he is vulnerable. When he is on song he is electric - but it's heart in mouth stuff. That's what to me makes him a more interesting horse - exciting even - than say Best Mate or Denman.
