Photo Editing

I have taken a few photos over the weekend but need a programme that will help me do the following -

I have downloaded the photos to the laptop, when I view the picture I want to be able to save the "zoomed" version of it. Instead everytime I go into viewing the photo it has gone back to its original stable.

Also need to brighten a few of the pictures....suggestions?

Gal, if you have a decent digi camera, it might well have a 'crop' facility on it, which will allow you to create and save a new image of the zoomed area to the camera's memory, without altering the original.

You can then download the new, zoomed image to your laptop, before doing any other adjustments you deem necessary (cover acne, straighten bad eye, add front teeth etc).
