The way the Tower worked the other morning, this is already all over.
He'll be facing specialist 1m2f horses though Chris, not 1m6f horses like on the gallops! :D

Money has been strong for him though.

we'll see Galileo;

I'm happy with the odds I've got and given he has already proved solid in a group 1 race not run to suit on ground too slow for him, I am happy with that.

Also that was just his most recent gallop, the weeks peior have given every indication this horse is something out of the top draw.

I was impressed with Sageburg the last day and would see him as a greater thread to DOM than the Cecil horse.

Far be it from me to question Sir Michael, but why on earth is he running Ask in this? Wasn't Sandown proof enough the horse needs further than 10f. I feel the opposition will be a bit stronger than Philatelist and Hattan. The Harwicke is at his mercy.

If Purple Moon/ Speed Gifted whatever runs of the pair for Cumani runs in the Hardwicke, I would bare my arse in __________

I do love an arse baring post, but I must ask Chris to clarify the terms of this one....

Where have all the good older horses gone? The Queen Anne and PoW both look underwhelming renewals to me.
You`re wrong about the QA - it`s up to strength.

I think the older horses are fine over 8 and 12f, the 10f brigade are in general a bit shite though - hence DoM, who is good but not that good being an unopposable almost odds-on poke.

Final declarations...

That five runner Sandown contest was run at a slow pace. The PoW will have a stronger gallop and 12f horses actually have a good record in the race - Dylan Thomas, Ouija Board, Azamour, Nayef, Fantastic Light and even going way back to Mtoto. I`m pushing it with Azamour a little but ultimately a strong run 10f with the uphill finish takes a bit of getting. I make Ask a reasonable EW punt tomorrow.

Hate to say this, but would prefer any other horse to win to spare us from the inevitable eulogising of Duke of Marmalade.

'Toughest horse ever'
'More so than Giants Causeway, Aidan?'

In the absence of Literato, I can't bring myself to abck the fav at the price, although I reckon he'll win.

However, I've gone for 22/1 place only Stotsfold.

Duke Of Marmalade reminds me so much of Oratorio. Really gross big horse. Similiar racing style as well.

I've gone in heavy on Phoenix Tower on the place market at 6/4.

This race could well determine my week punting wise.

I'm not a DOM fan at all - shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as last year's winner
A poor renewal, not a race I'm excited about at all - in fact, is it just me or is today's racing really nto up to much?

Glad I didn't pay up to go today - all the chums are there - it looks cold and horrid and there's no great horse to lift the spirits. yesterday would have been good tho!

Post race: have to admit he did it very nicely though

Proper horse.

People complain about Ballydoyle talking up their horses....here we have a brave and consistent horse who gives his all the whole time. Yet people want to slate him.
