Punchestown Day 2

I thought the same thing about WOA after the race. Pity he did not run in the National.

Gal, any idea of what the first day's attendance was, please? Be interesting to know how the course is faring in the teeth of the continuing financial downturn. It looks to defy doom and gloom on today's evidence. Perhaps people are just so fed up with being fed up that they're going to enjoy themselves, and Devil take the hindmost!

First day was down by just a couple of thousand - felt much much busier today. Be interesting to see if today was just the Denman effect.

Ah - that could have been the factor for the upturn. Nice to think that a horse can lure in so many to see him, even if he failed to take to the course. Imagine if Kauto had turned up, too!

Even if he'd come 4th there, his prize money would've been double that at Punchestown! So yes, although it's 20/20 hindsight, it would've been a whole lot better result. Take away his and connections' transport and stay expenses, and his sub-£6K looks pretty poor. An expensive and slightly embarrassing outing which he clearly didn't like.
