Rain

Ahh I don't thnk the rain at Thirsk was too bad, shame the steele band couldnt have brought some caribbean weather though!!! not like it has been today at some points the footpaths have been flooded where the drains havent coped

Well it's finally stopped here and wind blowing now so might dry some things a bit. But the paddocks are so sodden that I forsee mud fever in some of the horses by next week. At least they still like being out, the foals are old enough now that they don't mind the rain. Except one chestnut foal who hollers and wants us to get him in all the time, very funny. He's a little devil. They have a shelter which they can huddle in but prefer to run about being silly instead.

It seems to rain an awful lot more in Ireland (Cork anyway) than London, which is a little strange, and depressing.

When I lived in London I phoned home to Ireland nearly every day and couldn't believe how often it rained in comparison to London.Geographically we are fairly close but there must be a significant difference in terms of rainfall.

I loved the band, thought they were great.

Went to Ponte a few weeks ago & they had an ABBA tribute band on, cheesy but good fun.:)

I was at Thirsk on the 2nd, beautiful sunny day, same for Carlisle on the 4th.

Since I'm in statto mode.....

28% less rain in London than in Dublin, but London has more rainy days....

Meaning that when it does rain in Dublin, it is significantly wetter (not the wetness of the rain, the volume of it).

Average rainfall when it does rain in London is 111mm, against Dublin's 164mm.

Which would definitely enhance any perception that Dublin is much wetter than London.

I'm still drying out from this morning - an hour in the manege in jeans and a t-shirt when it's hacking down is really not advisable!

Got soaked cycling home from work this evening.

Hope the weather is a bit better tomorrow for my first trip to Great Leighs.
