I don't know where you find these but there are far too many incorrect facts on there for even I, ths ardent corrector of wrong 'uns, to bother.

But how about this for starters?

"In God We Trust" is our National Motto.

"In God We Trust" is actually the national motto of the United States of America. The final verse of "The Star Spangled Banner", the US national anthem contains the line: "...And this be our motto- 'In God is our trust'."

"In God We Trust" is emblazoned all over their currency ffs. So that about sums up the the idiot who wrote that piece.

Most of the rest of that would make more sense if you replaced "Britain" for "America", actually. And isn't "A Fair Go" an Aussie thing?

Im not at all nationlistic and dislike blind patriotism but the first three stories are absurd and the perputrators of such stupid (english hating...which is a theme on the far left) practices are the best recruitment agent the BNP could possibly hope for

This is a great country to live in in so many ways and alot of that is down to absorbing the best of many cultures over many centuries. But for many of the PC brigade it should be a case of us seeing other cultures as superior to ours ( I remeber the sneering comments from Ken Livingstone when asked about a St georges day parade as an example...), which is plainly ridiculous....

Just a couple more examples of the total bollocks in that piece - the number of cities in the UK refusing to put up Christmas lights for fear of offending "other cultures" is- NIL.

You would not be allowed to have your face covered on a driving licence photograph, so that is also totally untrue and anyway Birmingham council has bugger all to do with he issue of driving licences. They are issued and administered by the DVLA in Swansea.

And there is no record anywhere of any school anywhere in the country allowing replica club shirts to be worn for sports and PE while banning replica international shirts.

I don't mind debating differing opinions on here but I can't abide invention being presented as fact.

I've traced the above to being in a letter to the Sun online. What do you think the Sun's heading was?

Opinions expressed here are those of their writers and do not reflect those of the Sun. The Sun Online accepts no responsibility legal or otherwise for their accuracy or content.

Yeah, right.

because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented.
Where? How? When? etc.

I found the original - it was, as expected an American thing. I also found a version of the above posted on the BBC message board but at least the writer had amended "In God We Trust" is our national motto to "Land Of Hope And Glory" is our national motto.

Which it isn't.

There is a lot for which Mr Tony can be condemned but his theory that what we need is "Education, education and education" is right. And not just for schoolchildren.

my home town has nailed the so called sensitive issue of festive lights & not offending any faiths. there are a set of neutral lights which are put up before diwali, they are then turned off & turned on again on the 1st December. a very simple & practical solution with minimal fuss.

A few weeks ago I posted:

The man regularly posts the most ridiculous comment of the day on the forum.

He has been missing recently under said circumstances.

He has not let me down today.
AND I POSTED THIS IN REPLY TO YOUR MUNDANE POSTS, REMEMBER......

No Clive.

The man regularly posts the most ridiculous comment of the day on the forum.

He has been missing recently under said circumstances.

What another MUNDANE posting from this writer I reckon you should be nominated for a literary award if nothing else.

Seriously have you ever posted anything of worth On this forum? Rather than trying to belittle someone!!!...I really think it shows your immaturity and you need to go and post something in the age range that you show on here. ........

Watch with mother comes to mind............

I don't know about him, but if he is like me the answer would be a resounding NO, as I could not imagine putting up something containing so many inaccuracies (some might prefer to call them downright lies).

Ah you've all got there before me, I'd have enjoyed de-bunking this one. Curious to learn that the Anglo Saxons (devote Pagans) were the Christian bedrock on which our culture is built. Any more than God is in our culture, is a strange way of explaining years of falling chuch attendances. Brian's quite right of course, "In God We Trust" is emblazoned on all American currency, in much the same way as ours say "I promise to pay the bearer etc". St George is Catalonian I believe and has little connection with England, and anyone who thinks he slew a real dragon anyway, would seriosuly worry me. Technically Chinese is a family languages of which Mandarin and Cantonese are the most popular, but you could probably let someone off that one. As Brian also points out, Local authorities don't issue driving licences. Birmingham like Leicester, tend to merge their xmas lights with their Diwali lights I believe (the latter certainly does) and so both are celebrated. This has nothing to do with appeasing one community over another, but everything to do with saving money instead!!! 2 for the price of 1 etc Unless of course its a reference to Birmingham Alabama

I guess those of you who leapt on this band wagon and wholeheartedly agreed with it, and even twisted it around into other agendas must feel prety stupid that you've been duped by allowing some scammer to appeal to your baser instincts, before your critical faculties kicked in? Or the glaring the inaccuracies were pointed out for you?

"email received today and its so true"
So I guess you realise by now that that is exactly what it isn't.
In the context that I had it without investigating where it came from? The answers it gave were true as far as I was concerned........hindsight is a brilliant thing to have had..

AFTER ONE INVESTIGATES FROM WHERE IT COMES ORIGINALLY...............but I take things that get posted to me as sacre sanct and feel that I don’t need to investigate into it and find out from where it comes.......

This makes as much sense as your Wayne Rooney tirades.

Merlin, you owe me £5000. This is posted to you and as such is totally true. Used notes will do.

...............but I take things that get posted to me as sacre sanct and feel that I don’t need to investigate into it and find out from where it comes.......

Then you can pay for your penis enlargement out of the millions you're going to earn from that generous Nigerian gentleman.

Sorry Merlin, no hindsight necessary. Half way through reading it alarm bells were ringing with me, that this was crude propoganda, and designed to dupe the sympathetic and unenquiring mind.

If you'd posted it by way of warning, or by way of belittling the cynicsm behind it, then yes, I think you could justify it. Otherwise, I'd be very curious to know why you felt it necessary to post it, and in doing so, allow Talking Horses to provide the oxygen for such stuff?

I fear all you've done is make yourself look a bit daft, as indeed has Clive who appears to have been taken in initially. I hope you are able to build up a level of anger towards those who've slightly humiliated you by proxy, but then that's all you were for them in accquiessing - a proxy. Embarrassing really I suppose?

And "hindsight" has nothing whatsoever to do with me knowing that driving licences are issued from Swansea, that you have to have a full face photo on a driving licence, that no councils have cancelled Christmas lights, that "In God We Trust" is the national motto of the USA etc.

Perhaps the words you are looking for are "knowledge" and "common sense"?

  Very good.

I think Merlin has only posted here what has been emailed to him for us all to discuss with no intention of offending anyone.
