At the Start
For those who think that he's a certainty, a word of warning (for what it's worth) from Johnny Gos in the RP this morning.:
JOHN GOSDEN has issued a warning ahead of the seasonal debut of Raven's Pass in Thursday's Craven Stakes.
The Elusive Quality colt has been a bit of a handful at homeof late and Gosden is using the traditional 2,000 Guineas trial as a way of taking some of the gas out of his promising three-year-old.
The 5-1 second-favourite with the sponsors Stan James for the first Classic of the season, Gosden is keen to stresshis prep race is not the priority.
He said: "He's too fresh and well and needs the race to settle down a bit.
"You could describe him as ebullient, effervescent and all of those type of words, but at least he is well.
"I would have preferred to have run him over seven furlongs, but Newbury (at the weekend) is on the soft side already and there is more rain forecast so it made sense to come here.
"This is a trial and he is there to do his best but tomorrow is not D-Day.
"I have won the Craven and other trials with horses who have made the trial their D-Day. I don't mean to say he'll be pussy-footing tomorrow, but he is being trained for the Guineas."
