Jack Tyner, who has been battling for survival since taking a terrible fall at Dungarvan point-to-point last Tuesday, has lost his fight for life. The teenage son of trainer Robert and his wife Mary actually rode a winner that day (Exitnell) but in the following race his mount Dusmagic took a heavy fall at the first fence.
Jack was taken to Cork University Hospital, unconscious, and he passed away there this morning.
May he rest in peace.

RIP :(

Terrible news - never met Jack but the Tyner's are a lovely family. Our thoughts are with them at this dreadful time.

RIP Jack.

Dire news. It just serves to bring home how every-day slip ups in this sport can have catastrophic consequences. Deepest sympathy to his family.

Just heard the news. Very sad. People forget how brave these boys and girls riding every Sunday are.

Very sad news. Same injury that Matt O'Connor had.

At times like this, you realise that those jocks you criticise every now and again are putting their lives on the line, unlike soccer players or golfers. Respect.

Terrible news. RIP.

[Although Cantoris, a few soccer players have died on pitch in last few years - curse of sudden cardiac death and associated theories, but this is the wrong time and place to discuss it]

read in racing post that jacks sister died from injuries suffered in fall too, after 12 years (!) in a coma. how can any family live with two such tragedies? so heartbreaking.

heartbreaking stuff,

none of my words will matter much, but this gets right into the bottom of my stomach.

may the family have the strength and courage to celebrate his & their life by doing whatever makes them happy,
