Road to Royal Ascot, 2023

Now that was a cracking ride by Hayley. Not a penny on her but credit to her there as not easy when you’re out on your own like that.

I'm not judge of horseflesh but I have to say Docklands looked out of this world before the race, so much so that I was trying to get online to stick a saver on it but the betting closed just as I was typing out the bet.

Brilliant winners on both sides.

Docklands up a stone and beats his side by a stone. Must be a Group horse in the making.

Shame he couldn't be arsed on Bluestocking. Guess he only tries on certain rides.

I've been guilty of accusing him of similar but Ruby analysed that ride and explained how he was unlucky in running. Maybe hesitant on Dettori's part in terms of tactics rather then bad luck but he got the horse to finish as well as he could without being over-hard on it.

I'm tempted to forgive him that one but it's easy for me because I wasn't on it.

Charlie Appleby’s horses not up to their usual standard this week it seems or am I being harsh? Bold Act did well to get 3rd looked beaten a few furlongs from home.

Yes I have noticed this too and just checked his stats. He’s had winners over the last three weeks but only fairly minor ones and you always expect a good few of his to go in at the top level, so yes disappointed.

Down overall of the day too so grateful for yesterday.

Still two days to go and the Wokingham is picking up money :p

And they went too fast in the last race.

Desperate and hugely disappointing day. Probably just get the rusty pin out for tomorrow - It couldn’t do worse.

I think she's perhaps not underrated per say, but doesn't get kudos when due and should get more rides. I think she's a very, very good horseperson.

I think she’s under-rated. She seems to have been left behind in Hollies wake but she pioneered the female cause on the Flat and was the first really serious female pilot.

I had a poor day yesterday but it improved a lot today. The marker pen from Tuesday, the conservatory as a study area, clearly helped. I may even try to locate my lucky knickers tomorrow

Dreadful day, poor week. Best bets are tomorrow though, including a tracker or two at Newmarket and Goodwood and a roll over going onto Noble Style.

Mischief Magic (Commonwealth) already has a Gp1 on his cv, having won a fast run, fast ground 5.5f in the States, over shorter & sharper, but gaining ground at the end.
Wm Buick's choice,he is perfectly drawn for his stalk and swoop style next to the Irish fav, and his own stablemate just outside them.
His lto run was probably no more than a look-see at the Ascot track, and was unsuited by gound and pace.
33/1 4pl B365
