Road to the Champion Chase 2011

I would be very happy with Catch Me's jumping today and he and Psycho very much have other days in mind.

Was in Naas today. Psycho not fit. Not sure how much Catch Me will come on for it. Captain looked very well, jumped super and whereas last year he was prone to have a wobbly at the last, this time around he was crisp and clean. The horses behind are rated in the 140s and he gave them wait. A nice starter for ten and upwards and onwards for him. But Psycho def the one to take out of it.

Master Minded 11/2 at Stan James. Big Zeb 3s. Wrong way round surely.

You have to take a lot on trust this season, was at the yard a month ago and Nicholls told us that Master Minded had a wind op during the Summer which is public knowledge I think, but he's worried that in keeping with other members of his family he's now at the age where, for whatever reason, they don't train on.

A very interesting horse this season. I think he might get 3 miles but its unlikely he will be asked to do so. I think he is a much better chaser than hurdler and has some juice in his mark of 143. Very hard to know where they will place him. A few years ago the Victor Chandler at Ascot would have been an option.

I'm willing to take a chance at those odds. It's not as if he had no form last year, his run in the Game Spirit wasn't that far off his best.

Super from BIG ZEB - JONCOL made a hash of pretty much every one, including going out to the right too many times for his own good.

Zeb - bigger, stronger, better.

His jumping was great today and as Colm said to me after, he'd have done more in a racecourse school. Upwards and onwards.

Golden Silver interests me for the Ryanair. He's been mullered twice over two miles at the Festival and surely the longer race should be his target. He's a bit under the radar here so would be a decent price.

He wasn't trying.

Only saw closing stages myself - RP website result says chased leader in second place , ridden three out dropped to third - stayed on well closing stages - maybe he blew up and got second wind - mullins horses seem to be needing their first run - to me he's a flat out two miler most effective reasonably fresh on ground soft or worse - bottomless preferably - will never win at Cheltenham due to ground conditions
