Road to the Ryanair Chase 2020

Samcro is 18/1. I just can’t understand why people don’t get him. The patently obvious is staring everyone in the face.

Also hopefully Joseph gets with the programme and runs Fakir in this now.

Good ground is the key....

won his marsh on soft but agree that he needs to improve on that to have a chance here and good ground would help that if he can get it. 18s is decent.

Ive taken 22/1 with a boost on Samcro with Willy Hills.

I don't think so

Ground was ideal, he wasn't asked much

Mainly tactics. Though had he won he may have been going for Gold, of which he would have had no chance.

Wasn't just this race but the hard race he had prior aswell.

Time to lump on

Whether Samcro will be part of Elliott’s Cheltenham squad remains uncertain.

The nine-year-old has won the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle and the Marsh Novices’ Chase at the Festival, but was pulled up on his latest outing in the Savills Chase at Leopardstown in December.
Elliott said: “Samcro is entered at the weekend (Red Mills Chase at Gowran Park), (but) again the ground will be the worry.
“We’ll probably look at something like the Ryanair Chase with him, but he’s not easy to train.
“He’s very hot and cold — when he’s good he’s good and when he’s bad he’s very bad.”

Trying to find a thread with my beloved Defi in so this will have to do.

I was at a Point to Point seminar today at Cheltenham racecourse as was Philip Hobbs assistant, Johnson. I asked him about Defi and if they had managed to find what was wrong with him. He said he has been examined by every vet clinic going and had every test going. They discovered that he was leaking blood into his abdominal cavity which was quite serious and probably quite painful. It is now fixed and hopefully he can resume his career. I asked if he thought it would impact on him mentally but he said he’s been doing really well at home since he returned so he thinks he will be fine. I said that I refused to believe that there hadn’t been a reason for him not to perform last season and he agreed saying he’s the most genuine horse imaginable.

That's good to hear Jinny. I presume a step up in trip is imminent too?

I am not sure. I will be seeing the yard Secretary in a couple of weeks so I will ask her then. I was just pleased to hear that something had come to light.

Probably the first piece of work Tiger Roll has had since last years festival apart from a day out in Decemeber.

Trainer's rep said, regarding improved form at the festival, that the gelding seemed to appreciate the return to Cheltenham in spring:lol:

The Stewards replied......DUH!!!!!! that's ok then.
