Road to the Triumph Hurdle 2021

....and what happens if Paros, for example, comes out and runs a blinder at the weekend ? Even if I did bet I wouldn't be taking a price on any Triumph Hurdle runner at this stage of the seasson.

I would be spitting blood if I'd backed Paros there. He probably wouldn't have won but the jockey made no effort to avoid being put in a pocket and then accepted defeat very quickly.

The chances are he's a lot better than he showed here but that must have been hugely disappointing for his backers.

Nico had no help from the horse during the race either.

Another hot shot beaten.

I’m tempted to **** my Mister Coffey bet off with that clown on. Winner was impressive though.

I don’t think it was as important for the yard to win as it was to give a decent schooling run. Nico was doing that and was never going to bash him about or take chances.

The yard had it out there that this was a steering job. Nico is incapable of settling a horse without Rythmol.

On the subject of the Triumph there was someone of Facebook yesterday who will be looking after Barizan soon who, it seems is having a great retirement. It really made my day to read it albeit bringing back crippling memories of watching him being overhauled at the last minute.

Bet you were shouting louder than me then! I remember studying the race the night before and hitting on Barizan as a dark horse, never expecting him to do what he did. That was in the days when I was able to uncover horses like that. Seem to have lost it now. Must have been beginners luck!

I was down in the Guinness enclosure near that last hurdle with a pal who'd not backed a winner all week….he was on Barizan win only.....Hasn’t been back to the festival since!

I’ve just had another Barizan moment with Defi des Carres in the cross country. They say history repeats itself....gutted.

Blimey, did you catch French Aseel in the opener at Leopardstown yesterday? Looks like Zanahiyr has got a rival after all.

You'd be surprised if JP doesn't buy it.

He’d be on to a good thing I reckon. I thought Zanahiyr’s run was massive, but this one is as well. Jockey just sat motionless whilst the field disappeared behind him with whips cracking and arms flailing. It was some performance.
