Rolling Stones at Glastonbury

Really? I can think of an awful lot of music that was complteley untouched by zep. I know rolf Harris covered stairway to heaven but thats about it

Only group whos influence went right across boundaries is the the beatles of course.

And were zep all that original? in the sense that James Brown, beach boys and bowie were say?

Not knocking them because they were clearly good at what they did

sorry ...I meant changed the face of rock music

it may look all overblown and dated now but as with other artists in their particular time it was ..it...for a lot of my generation anyway

at the time they were as cool as fook Euro...and were as far above other bands as the beatles were above their contemparies

I don't agree with that. The Who were arguably better live and I think Pink Floyd's back catalogue stands comparison.

it may seem so in retrospect..but at the time there was a mystique about Zep..the lack of publicity created that...The Who and Pink Floyd were all over the music media in those days

the Who may have been visually better but Page was in another league to Townsend as a guitarist

I saw PF in 72 and agree they were a fantastic live band...but imo a different kettle of fish to Zep musically...i never saw The Who ..but they were about power chords and didn't have the light and shade that Zep had imo

all great bands obviously..but i still say Zep influenced more bands than Who or Floyd
