Royal Ascot 2019

If I were a layer of horses, I'd be laying as much as possible at around 4.0 Turgenev in the 30 runner Brittania. Some cowardly bookies as short as 2/1

You need a strong stomach to be a layer at the 5.4 currently available on betfair.Speaking as someone who laid a friend a euro at 100/1 on Anthony Van Dyck for Epsom after the Lingfield Derby Trial.

If youhad laid two hundred to lose nine how would you be feeling after that.

I was strongly thinking of laying FD, but i so much wanted to see him win , NO BET lol

Pablo Escobarr can go very close on Friday.

James Doyle has five very good each way chances aswell.

Hopefully I'll be eating some salmon tomorrow. :)

Thought I'd share this. I started today with £6.66 in my Betfair account. I ended up with £135 after backing the last two winners.

I reckon the devil was on my side today.

And long may it continue!

Good stuff, simmo. Chuffed for you.

Schoolboy error, but forgivable in the circumstances given the adrenaline load he must have been carrying.

Seriously, though, Biometric finished off so strongly I don't think it made much of a difference. Good winner of a very good race. The brother backed it too so happy for him and simmo and anyone else who picked it.

But,then, again,if Ryan Moore had ridden it...........

I'm very keen on Secret Advisor (took 14/1) in the 5.35 today. He won the 2017 Melrose (1m6f) off 4lbs lower but the next few home have all subsequently won off higher marks. Charlie Appleby produced Rare Rhythm off 97 two years ago to win this after a year's absence (and that previous run was its seasonal debut) ahead of following up off 105, 110 and running up to Vazirabad off 114 in a G2 at Meydan. I imagine Secret Advisor is thought in the same class and I can see him ending up going for the Melbourne Cup. Cross Counter was my bet in the KGV Hcap last year off 98 and we know the direction his career subsequently took.

I shudder to think how far Japan might have won with better tactics.

Did I hear Weaver say Moore was riding like a 5lb claimer in that race?

Two tomorrow that look overpriced.

4.20 Keystroke. E/W

5.00 Southern Horse E/W

Hopefully Saturday will prove more lucky!!!

Good luck everyone.

Just catching up on today's recording...

Dettori admitting he went too soon on Turgenev - refreshingly frank

Gary Wilshire the bookie - I've never listened to him before but his enthusiasm for Dettori was brilliant.

Coronation stakes - take the winner out and nobody would quibble with any of the form.

I'm convinced more than ever that Hayley Turner is Lester Piggott's love-child.

Ben Vrackie lost at least five lengths out of the stalls only to be beaten in a photo. Desperately unlucky. Ebor winner?

I was delighted for Hayley winning yesterday. Seems very fitting that the lady jockey who has done so much to raise the profile of lady riders gets the long awaited win. Well done her!

I was never a fan of hers when she was coming through the ranks and she nearly cost Dream Ahead his first G1 but she was great on the racing programme and was very cool yesterday. She might just have been on a seriously well-handicapped animal but she didn't ask for an effort until everything else was off the bit and fairly sluiced through the field.

Momkin looked a bit unlucky there. Seemed to be blocked in his run several times
