Royal Ascot - Wednesday

No luck but Donald Murphy keeping me informed of his neighbours' horses: Missunited and Rebel Fitz. May be on the big Galway double if Dr Hutch can be persuaded!. Donald trying his hardest on that front( as only he can!)

Only horse I've backed so far is Trade Commissioner for the Hunt Cup. Think he's a big price based on his form last season and with any luck he'll be thereabouts.

I'm with Al Kazeem in the big race. If the race in Ireland was in fact slowly-run then I can't see why that would have suited him more than Camelot given that he was held up in last place. As a strong traveller who stays further than 10f he'll be at least as well suited by today's conditions.

David Livingston is well-weighted in the Hunt Cup but I don't think I've ever backed the winner of that.

As stated elsewhere, I've got to back Reroute in the QM on the strength of her York time.

Auction is 8lbs out of the handicap in the last but she'll get an end-to-end gallop and she's a fair price.

Watching last years race, follow Field of Dream's run. Unbelievable that it still finished 4th after travelling that far. I think from then it has been all about this race so I'm happy to ignore every run since on that basis.

I do think Garswood is the best horse in the race, same with Duntle, as for Camelot I think it has always been about today's race. Given they kept it in training they need some big wins to get the sire value back up and I reckon today was the day they were targeting and given how tuned up his runners were yesterday that should prove ominous.

Including his win in the big 7f handicap under Hughes ?

Has a good chance but Hughes has jumped ship to the favourite and she looks seriously laid out for this too .

Clive Brittain's telling all and sundry how good Rizeena is for the Norfolk, and he currently sits as 2nd fav. Ryan Moore however -who rode him to his last win - opts for Bye Bye Birdie, and at 18/1 (4 places) with Bet 365, the hint should be taken.

Queen Mary surely .

A tilt at the P/Pot is my fancy today.
2.30 (14) Mutin
3.05 (5) Duntle
3.45 (3) Camelot
4.25 (10) Fury, (21) Stirring Ballad, (25) Burke's Rock
5.00 (19) Rizeena
5.35 (15) Woodland Aria

Fair points. I'm not backing Camelot but I believe the market will send him off favourite. Sunybay may well have identified the best way to play the race. As a bookmaker I'd be looking to lay AK now and Camelot at a shorter price near the off.

.

That boys a genius.

Great race!! But if he were mine I'd chuck Camelot in a field for 9 months and then bring him back. I can't believe that he can get over serious colic surgery so quickly and he's not letting himself down properly. It might be that he's just not that good, but I think he needs more time.

We are getting some great finishes this year, good for me as a lukewarm flat person!!

Al Kazeem confirmed the form with Camelot. Camelot the most excused horse in World racing.

Al Kazeem has a lot of speed for his pedigree.

Not even a low draw can stop Garswood in the Jersey Stakes.

Brilliant race and great rides by Doyle and Hanagan .

Hughes on the other hand after Toronado and Montiridge appears to need a winner - he just had a complete brainstorm on Stirring Ballad - taking her away from tracking the winner to burying her at the back of the main pack and she was hemmed in , on the bridle all the way .

Sometimes the ineptitude of our jockeys leaves me speechless.

It was obvious throughout that the far side was going faster but the nearside group collectively seemed to let them get on with it and run their own race at what looked a moderate pace. By the time they started racing the far side had it sewn up. Freak result. Expensive result.

Hughes is rubbish, he has no clock in his head so he rides everything out the back. if he has to ride from the front he murders the horse. He did his best to get Talent beaten having rode the horse out the back he had to rely on a fellow jock doing him a solid to get out. He than announced the horse needed the trip. The Fran Berry of UK racing.

Sweet Emma Rose sires sire was Carson City a very very fast horse. The apple didn't fall too far there.

I've had a stab at the last, a race I don't like. Woodland Aria strikes me as a decent shout and I've backed it up with Annecdote and Uleavemebreathless at longer odds.

Bracing Breeze should improve a lot on this ground and distance and looks interesting in the last race
