With the SN coming a week before the bet 365 (whitbread) will Kittys light run in the SN.
He would get 2 stone from Hewick in the bet365 and he also has cap du nord in the SN.
Betfair and PP have pushed it out to 11/2 for the SN.
Pp are 5/1 for the bet365 and betfair havent got prices.

I will probably back EMPIRE STEEL (as usual).I thought they might run it last year but didnt but it has to win off its highest mark after beating Le Milos last time.
11/2 Kittys Light is a good price if it runs.3lb lower than when 2nd to win my wings last year.

31 at the five-day stage, 30 max field so might end up in the mid-20s. I plan to study the race today if possible with a view to trying to snaffle some early value - unlikely, though, as Unibet is the only firm I can access and they are seldom generous at any stage let alone this far out - but it will be good to get some kind of handle on the field.

Kitty's Light will definitely be hard to keep out of the frame, if not beat.

I had a great time backing horses in theis for a few Years.

A horse who I liked because he had Crossbetlt like What a Myth (I know tell me about it)
was Arcturus who started the ball rolling.

Then the following year the immensly popular Playlord won the race for Gordon Richards.

The luck comntinued when the local yards where I lived won the next 3.

The Spaniard Young Ash Leaf for ken Oliver and Quick Reply for Harry Bell

Everyone backed Red Rum in 74

Quick Reply was a round the time I had started riding out for a short time at Harry Bells
before moving to Rhona (Ken) Oliver's where I rode Fighting Fit out on a few occasions.
I had to wait 5 years to back the winner again when he won the race in 1979.

Harry Bell and Rhona Oliver both won the race again but alas I backed neither of them and it wasn't until
8 year later I fell on to Little Polvier.....I was heavily involved in racing by this time and out to impress
my then girlfriends father I asked him to acompany me to the bookies. I had 300 quid EW at 16/1 early prices on
little Polvier and her Daddy thought I was a genius:lol:

So much of a genius over the next 35 years I have backed the winner once when Four Trix won way back in 1990.

In my defence the winners since then don't exactly read like a whos who.

If Monbeg Genius turn out for Jonjo I won't be opposing him his form is outstanding after Saturday
and maybe the long wait to back another winner in the race will be over:)

I actually think looking back that there are some big races I never ever backed the winner of, this is one of those. I usually look at this, pick one then watch it, then be p*ssed off:D

Some great old names there, Tanlic. Instantly brought memories of Saturday afternoons in my parents' house in Clydebank. My father seemed to back the winner every year and I recall he was on YAL ante-post at huge odds.

I think we (him, my two brothers and me) were the only people in the stands cheering when Barona won his first at 40s.

I lived in Hamilton when Little Polvier won but the Love of my life who I lost to some German lived in McGhee Street "o)

McGhee Street in Clydebank? My mother's family's house was the one on the corner of McGhee Street and Kilbowie Road! After my grandparents died my widowed auntie and her family moved into the house and her family still own it.

Here's a pic of my mother's family outside the house:

Family 2.jpg

Same street Catherine Hosey she lived at No. 21 her dad Michael I know passed away some time ago, She got married to a german guy and has 2 kids.

I imagine you must have known her or her brother?

I'm sure my brother and/or sister knew a Hosey/Hoseys at school. I'd be pretty certain my cousins who lived in the house would have known the Hoseys.

Just heard a great stat for Empire Steel, from a Ben Aitken podcast -
When travelling further than 120 miles from Thompson's yard he is 5/8 any further he is 0/6 (3 dnf)

As well as Rebecca Curtis has only ever sent 1 runner to Ayr and that was when winning this race with Joe Farrel at 33/1 in 2018, her 2nd ever runner at Ayr in the same race is Ruthless Article @40's currently.

Problem with the second stat is that Rebecca Curtis hasnt trained a winner since last October

I have decided to back whatever you pick in these big races, saves me time:cool:

 Market speaking favourably at least. I took 8s yesterday and seriously sweet on him. As long as he gets round and no reason to think he won’t

124.8 miles to ayr.is that good or bad as your post contradicts itself .

I haven’t looked so guessing completely but doesn’t Empire Steel love Kelso and hence could contribute heavily to those stats ?

Edit : Now I’ve looked. Another way at looking at this is

His form at Kelso is 1121

His form away from Kelso is F0342PU31312PU0

Just saying

But what if he had run the same number of times at Kelso as he did away from it? Only ran 4 times there, what if he had run 15 times there as he did away from there?

Interesting.Having just looked at the card I was actually going to ask if Rebecca Curtis had ever sent a horse to Ayr for the race. I know I’ve seen her at Wetherby. I think I’ll have to back that one but, to be honest, I just want Sandy to win it and would hate to be cheering for another horse at the end of the race.

Only raced against 13 other horses in 4 races
4,4,6,3 at kelso.

Dropping like flies Famous Bridge out now following Monbeg Genius and Elvis Mail. Good for the bookies as they’ll have taken plenty ante post for Monbeg Genius especially
