Site Performance

Hi I am Dave and I work for Bryan. Apologies for the downtime, we have moved the site and the forum onto one of our dedicated servers, which is the first step in improving performance of both the website and the forum. As well as alleviating Colin's family of any running costs such as hosting moving forward.

Over the coming days i.e. this week, will look into the bugs which have been reported such as the double posts, prior to upgrading the forum vbulletin software to the latest version.

If you can read this post, then all is good and the DNS changes have propagated at your end. :)

Well step one is done. Thanks Dave!!

Step two will probably take place today when we upgrade the forum software a bit. You should not notice too many changes, but it will be a more secure backend. The site might be down for a bit in order to do this. Just so you know. :)

I am looking at performing the first upgrade to the forum software very shortly. The forum will be closed while this is taking place.

Apologies for the length of time that upgrade took. Please let me know if there appears to be anything not working that should, in this thread.

Well done for all the work.

I'm noticing today, however, that the function which highlights threads which have been active since my last login is not working normally. It is showing threads I already saw last week and is not highlighting threads where there has been activity today.

Same for me.

You're probably best as just marking the forum as read from afresh and then go again from there. I've done that and it's working very smoothy.

Ditto. I deleted the Tapatalk app then reloaded and all is well [emoji2]

Step two is to upgrade the template from the out of the box vbulletin default template/style. And to brand it as well with a logo and custom images. Once this is done, then it's time to begin to get some fresh traffic here :)

I do like to keep my "backend" secure!

Very good point. Same with me :p

I was shut out of the site for a while and had to re-register, maybe partly my fault as I was fiddling with options trying to get on to the site - so the ****-artist formerly known as Seabird and Colin Phillips is now plain old Colin and I'm definitely not a "newbie".

Welcome to the forum, Colin. Funny enough, you’re not the only Colin on here from Port Talbot. The other guy does good write-ups on the juveniles, but I suppose you know each other
