Not me - and Ardross's 'dickheads' reference is still intact, so it must be the ghost in the machine up to its tricks again.

I deleted it as it could have been read as racist though no doubt it was intended to be ironic.

I think that Diver's point may be that the comments about people from the north of England could be construed similarly. Now, admittedly he is a Geordie exile so he'll have an axe to grind - therefore perhaps it's right to suppress him.

First 22 years in the North, moved to Kent, now visit younger daughter in Kent and elder daughter in Essex. There's no getting away from it, we're confirmed dickheads because of where we come from. But I am racist for suggesting that people from a different location are dickheads because of where they come from. The posting was made to prove a point. I rest my case. I know who the dickhead is!

No DIVER you missed the point . My posting was ironic especially as I am from Essex and part of my family is from Kent .

Your posting made your point very heavily and as you did not identify an area of the UK but a part of the world where the vast majority of the population is black and it was thus open to a racist misinterpretation I deleted it .

Ardross, your conceit led you to think I was commenting on your posting. It was an earlier post that caused me to put digit to keyboard. Yours merely added condiments to the wound. I was deeply offended by the remarks that inferred that my birthplace and that my only offspring, who happen to currently live in your two ironic areas, earmarks us all as dickheads. In my opinion your position as moderator becomes more untenable with each misinterpretation- related deletion you inflict.

Its political correctness gone mad and as quoted by others only by a singular person :o ........

Will it now in future be called the... DIVER-SION of it????.... instead of MERLINGISM'S.....

P.S What happened to the rotation of MODERATORS I thought someone proposed a six month stretch

Careful K. The moderating sword of Damocles hangs threateningly over your head.
I just have to behave over here now An, and I just run riot on the other forums! B)

It doesn't stop me having opinions though - even if they are mostly in my head. Nice to see someone fighting back though and don't worry Diver a week passes really quickly. B)

I don't know any whole county that is full of dickheads. Although, I once overheard someone saying that they all lived in the town of Bracknell.

Well said, i pay tax so i`ll smoke where i want. It`s a freedom issue and as for passive smoking and all these dicks who moan about you endangering there health......if you drive your a hypocrite, the toxins emmited from cars/trucks etc are more halmful.

I'm sorry Euronymous but that argument doesn't wash in the slightest. How many times have you seen someone backing a car into a small room so that the exhaust fills the place with fumes?? You're clutching at straws & you know it. Cigarette fumes kill; they are deadly whether directly or passively inhaled & that is a scientific fact. Nevermind that they also make people stink; it is a disgusting, pikey offensive odour.
That is bullshit. Wtf are you on about people`s living rooms for.....the debate was around smoking in public places. The bottom line is the toxins emitted from cars are just as halmful. But the ONLY difference is car drivers are in the majority and therefore cannot be prejudiced against...it`s always been that way - always attack the minority. And as ever most people being sheep like and believing everything they read buy into it. [/b][/quote]
Oh, stop splitting hairs! Substitute "living room" for one of the following then - pub/bar/restaurant/bookies and so on. Naturally, if people want to smoke at home then that's down to them but what gives them the right to decide that everyone in a given pub/restaurant/whatever must breathe in their toxic fumes & smell like an ashtray as a result? That is what I am talking about so to utilise a great word that Songsheet used - to liken smoking in public to driving a car is also specious.
