Smuggest Person in Britain Poll

I don't have a problem with him expressing an opinion or "questioning the grey suits" (although, frankly, I think that elevates his posturing to something beyond its merit). There is no need, however, for him (or anyone else, for that matter) to descend to insulting others in order to underline his opinions, which he does as a matter of course.
 
Opinion is one thing, insults however, I feel have a tendency to show either immaturity and or, lack of confidence or, intelligence in whats actually being said. I guess this would to a certain extent bring in the emotion of fear of the subject which could make a person passive or aggressive I guess. Failing that he is a complete wanker as grasshopper believes.
 
Beautifully expressed, Muttley. It's a show about cars, ffs, and frequently at the extreme luxury end, too - he's not saving lives, stopping poverty, or bringing despots to trial. The show is bum fluff, in the context of any real importance. Of course it's good to hear alternative viewpoints - as it is on anything - but not when these veer wildly off-topic into inane rants which have nothing to do with the basis for the show.
 
Clarkson is a lazy minded saloon bar bore. Just the type you dread sitting next to on a plane.

There is nothing in his "opinions" which has any shred of originality or the slightest inidication that he has any capability to think any matter through

but worst of all....you know exactly what he is going to say and precisely what his opinion on absolutely everything will be. He his a fat public school "eductaed" moron

His life is therefore a pointless exercise and he should end it now
 
Pity this poll didnt include Ireland. I never saw such a smug politician as Charles Haughey
 
Not surprised that Cowell is in the lead ! DO will be outraged to see Queen Smug Myleene Klass in there .

I'm quite surprised (and quite pleased, too!) by the number of men who've found Clarkson deeply annoying - I thought that as he seems to position himself as some sort of champion of all things masculine - or perceived as such - we wimminfolk would be in the minority on finding him a boring boor. Nice to know he's infuriated each gender pretty equally!
 
he is just trying to appeal to the younger "lads" i reckon..he behaves how he thinks it makes him look good in that type of person's eyes...its a lot of macho posturing that he really should have grown out of by now

i don't think he has changed much over the years either..its just he gets free reign on the show like never before
 
Fiona Bruce would get a place on my short list. She's a complete believer in the notion that she, as the medium, is the message.
 
I've never read such shite in all my life. Clarkson is brilliant. I'd far rather him than bland anodyne nobodies like Phillip Scofield and Nick Knowles. The sort of clean cut twonks that add nothing to any programme they're in. I don't agree with most of Jezza's opinions but Top Gear is one of the best shows on tv largely thanks to him. I've watched the specials from Botswana, Vietnam and the North Pole loads of times and he comes across on those as a genuinely funny and likeable fella.
