There was a bit more to it than that.

The horse is rated 171 and O'Leary has already started playing mind games with the BHA re the National, saying that unless the race is compressed so he can run off 165 or less then he won't run. To paraphrase; "if he get's 166 he won't run"

and a 6lb compression isn't going to happen...

I was surprised when they said it, as he's a young horse and clearly loves those kind of fences, and thought maybe it was a bit of a knee jerk thing to say.
 
All part of a campaign to put pressure on the handicapper to drop him a few pounds to ensure he runs. Not sure if it will work
