One came right for me. just one of those days when everything you do you can't go wrong.

William Hill as you may remember used to do their own Jackpot 6
I decided to give it a go and take so many selections in each race I think it was something like 4*3*2*3*3*2

I think there was 10% tax at the time. My total stake was 23 pounds and so many pence.

The deal was if you had 4 winners and the 2nd and or the 3rd you were guaranteed a bonus return that same applied to 5th and 6th race

Day started with a 66/1 winner which if I remember right was David Nicholson first ever Cheltenham winner as a trainer

I think Charter Party was the 2nd race or it might have been the 3rd....All I can remember about that winner was it began with the letter "A"

Then came Dawn Run in the Gold cup.

In those days only so many were televised.........Jobroke trained by one of the Easterbys had been 16/1 in the paper but he was subject of a huge gamble and went off at about 7/2 but won.

The thing was I just wasn't catching the winners I had the 2nd and in some races the 2nd and the 3rd as well.

I already was guaranteed a big payout for my small stake but obviously the sweat was pissin out of me.

With no TV in the shops all I had to go on was the blower.

I had 2 horses in the last Half Free (Fred Winter and maybe Richard Lindley) and Western Sunset ridden by Hewell Davies. There weren't many runners and if memory serves me well Fiftydollarsmore another fred Winter horse was the main danger.

I was bad enough but I had gone to a Mecca shop to listen to the race and my girfriends mother was the manager......She works out whats what and tells me I have roughly 14,500 quid coming if Half Free win but about 80,000 if Wester Sunset beats Half Freen into 2nd.

What actually happened in the race I can't say for sure but coming to the last according to the blower Western Sunset has taken it up from Half Free and gone 3L clear...thought I was home and dry but Half Free fought back Western Sunset stopped dead and finished 3rd.

Of course the penny never dropped I'm cursing like a looney because WS got beat and my mate says......"Are you fuckin nuts you just won over 14k.

Shortly afterwards Hills scrapped their Jackpot 6 it tuned out someone did scoop over 80k the day before I had my bet up.
I found these 2 videos

It's actually a good fun bet to do but I don't know if there's any jackpots run by bookies now where you can add any selections from any races.

It's a bet you can do for any amount but small bookies hate them.

2*2*2*2 50 quid accies is a killer for them if your outsider win the first 3 races say 5/1 6/1 and 7/1 goingon to 2 selections

Happened to me with a treble done like that and it cost a lady bookmaker 2,300 quid to lay the bet off ...the above would cost your bookie 32K to lay it off if he lets the 3rd leg ride.

Cheltenham is ideal for these bets plenty runner good prices small stakes....Get yer accies on and go for the big one

Solar Cloud, Charter Party, Attitude Adjuster, Dawn Run, Jobroke, Half Free couldn't by any chance get me the sp's could you.......no problem if you can't

Solar Cloud (40/1), Charter Party (12/1), Attitude Adjuster (10/1), Dawn Run (15/8), Jobroke (6/1), Half Free (11/8)

Almost chargeable but Chasers and Hurdlers was only £52 back in the day.

Thanks mate.......not sure but I seem to remeber getting 66/1 about solar cloud but can't be right...........don't think you could take morning prices on Jackpot forms also thought Jobroke was 7/2.........fookin old age is a swine:lol:
