Technical Ability: Willie would have to have a far superior knowledge of horse racing, training, breeding and riding so he loses this category.
Communication: Given his vast racing knowledge, it is disappointing that Willie has yet to make a remark that would make you reevaluate any aspect of a race. Very rarely gives a forthright opinion. Thommo, very occasionally makes a point that will at least have you thinking before you reject it. Willies job, though, is to share his vast knowledge of racing with his audience, his failure to do this renders him useless. Thommo can still introduce the link to the ad break - Willie wins this hands down
Deportment: Both can wear a nice suit, although the addition of a hat is a disaster for Willie's appearance. Wearing semi-transparent glasses on screen is just plain rude. Thommo tends to look a bit thick, but Willie looks Ugly. Very ugly. Which is worse. One more to Willie.
Preparation: Willie does not prepare which is an insult to the viewers. Thommo, I would guess, is a workaholic, and prepares meticulously. His preperation rarely adds any insight, but at least he knows who is running. Another for Willie.
Entertainment Value: Thommo enjoys himself on screen. Willie puts in the hour(s). Thommos attempt at humour often tempts the viewer to laugh at him. Willie's tempt the viewer to switch on the A-Team on ITV. Willie Again.
Interpersonal skills: Thommo is somewhat capable of holding a conversation on screen. OK, he interjects with inane remarks, but he still gives the appearance of listening (albeit too intently) when his turn to speak has passed. Willie says his bit and then gives the impression he wants to walk away, or look at the clouds. Again Willie.
