The 2025 Belmont Stakes

Thanks for that Ian-it was disappointing that ATR didn't show the race.
Baeza did it well -he has been my each way selection for the Classic since the Kentucky Derby and that was a nice performance 6 weeks before the big race. The jockey -Hector Berrios -fascinates me.He seems to be a Frankie Dettori style confidence jockey -when things go right for him he can walk on water.

Two races Stateside interest me on Saturday night - the Joe Hirsch Turf Classic at Aqueduct and the Goodwood Stakes at Santa Anita.

The latter is well past my bedtime, but I'll be running my data model on both, having bets, then posting links to YouTube here Sunday morning and entering into grey tail discussions after Maureen says she missed the race because she was knitting a Fabian tapestry or burning an effigy of Nigel Farage.

I left that a bit late - they were going in the stalls as I posted.

Love Rebels Romance and Dettori gave him the perfect ride tbf - sending him on when they weren't going quick enough.

Started 2.1 (11/10) on the machine.

Again FWIW my model bets: 1/4 Full Serrano, 4/1 First Mission and a million the rest at Santa Anita after midnight.

The market absolutely hated Rebels Romance -365went 4/5when he was 1.7 to lay on the machine followed by 10// and evens.A weak betfair market pushed him out as far as 2.2.Never in doubt.

The Rebels Romance race in full:

And the closing stages of the Goodwood Stakes (where I give most of it back, as Full Serrano gets turned over) at Santa Anita:

Two significant races at Aqueduct on Saturday in the shape of the Frizette Stakes for 2yo fillies and the Champagne Stakes for 2yo, both over 1m on dirt.

They often throw up strong East Coast challengers for the equivalent Breeders' Cup contests.

They are at 7.49 and 8.20 and Aqueduct are asking if that's alright with Maureen in case she's cooking a Cauliflower Cheese, rescuing an Aardvark from a refuge, or throwing darts at her Nigel Farage dart board at the time.

Meanwhile, at 10.00 at Santa Anita, it's the American Pharoah Stakes for juveniles.

FWIW tomorrow night at Aqueduct my ever-opinionated USA racing model bets: 1/3 Outfielder, 7/2 Belgian and a million the rest.

And, as if that's not polarised enough in a 2yo contest containing various likely sorts, over at Keeneland it simply can't have Tommy Jo beat, pricing the filly up at "No Offers."
