The 2025 Bunbury Cup (Handicap)

Never so brave is in the same ownership as the favourite isn't it.so that's probably why it's been taken out.

That hadn't escaped my attention and I dutched the pair ante-post at 4/1 net - whether that works out or not remains to be seen! 😂

I think more thunder will win.but at least I have got a price of 20 /1 Arcadian thunder.
Hope they go like lightening and one of them can rain them in.if they do there will be a big clap in my house.

I'm feeling quite bemused going into this race.

I've got 8/1 More Thunder ante-post, but it's not as good as it sounds as the reality is I fancied Never So Brave even more so I dutched them at 8/1 and 10/1, giving me 4/1 net one of them wins.

Never So Brave won't - he's at Ascot right now 😂 - and tbh despite the price I don't think More Thunder is home and hosed just yet.

I regard Tom Marquand as one of the more intelligent jockeys around - and strong in a finish - but I've got a feeling he's going to drop out More Thunder to be sure of getting that seventh furlong and, unless there's a strong pace up front, he might still have plenty of work to do, against leaders who aren't really stopping, from two furlongs out.

We shall see!

He won't make a point of dropping MT out early, I don't think. He was quite upfront yesterday in saying it's just a question of the horse getting into a breathing rhythm early. They'll go a half-stride slower at this trip - if they don't the pace will collapse anyway - and if he's within ten lengths of the lead two out he'll win going away. The trip will not be an issue of any sort, I don't think. I think he's needing it now.
