The 2025 Longshot Thread

Nightime Dancer ew @150/1 in the Derby, Pride of Arras is probably the standout horse in the race but most of the others are much of a muchness and I think Jamie Spencer can definitely ride this horse for a place.

Also with Bet365 they have a Free £10 bet offer on that first race at Epsom ........ bet Ten receive it back in Free Bet Credits
After drifting overnight I simply had to step in again at 125/1 EW 4 Places and 40/1 for the Top 3 finish .... and also a little at 100's & 33's. I can't see the horse winning, but on that ground is a sporting bet for a top 4 finish and simply too big a price. Finger crossed for a good run.

Epsom 2.45 - Desert Cop 20/1, five places - I mentioned before how some of the Bahrain form is under-rated and I think this is another example. It looks to me like the new trainer, who is local to the track, has got this one back to his best and that would probably be good enough to win. -

Edit - same race, One Night Stand 50/1, 5 places - has worked its way back down to a mark 4lbs lower than when winning a race last season and is drawn near the stands' rail.
One Night Stand seemed to target this last season and was withdrawn when it went soft. Also 5th off 12lb higher year before. I'm hoping rain stays away as also on at 50's

Now, this really is an outsider.

She Is Electric - Rosscommon 5.08 175/1

I've had this one in my alerts and there's no doubt that they're up to something. I suspect it will involve the jumping of hurdles but I must have a little ew insurance in this Novice chase.

Well, you know, if anyone wishes to watch a non-tryer in action, they should watch She's Electric in this race. Even with all those fallers, Kevin Sexton never raised a finger on She's Electric: a proper 'Irish Ride' imo. They're definitely up to something. I reckon they'll pop her into a handicap hurdle where they'll be trying a tad more.

A bit late now but been out walking all day.

Last night, I was looking at the 5.40 Kempton and thought that the two outsiders were both worth backing ew: Super Superjack 20/1 and Indigo Times 20/1.

I backed both for little bits then (of course) SS was declared a NR. That leaves me with just Indigo Times but it's now shortened to 10/1 so not a longshot now, eh.

The Coral-Eclipse requires a very close eye. I really don't think Ryan Moore on Camille Pissarro can go off at 8/1. I can see a set of circumstances where he goes off quite short. It will obviously depend on what happens at Royal Ascot.

Oi, Slim...

This is my fkn thread and the rules state that selections must be available at 20/1 or more at the time of posting. :)

(No matter how overpriced a horse might be.)

I've got it for a nice few quid at 50/1 but greed is good.

Coral Eclipse

Camille Pissarro is a best price 10/3 for the French Derby (Chantilly 3.05 Sunday).

Now, I'm not sure this horse wants 10f but he's got every chance from.his draw in stall 1. If he does prove he stays then surely he'll go to Sandown for the Coral Eclipse like St Mark's Basilica. It's hard to see how he is available at 50/1 for Sandown. You'll always want to be on a 3yo in the race and if he wins on Sunday he's far more likely to run in the race then any 3yo ahead of him in the betting.

Now now!

Queen Anne Stakes - Carl Spackler 20/1 - I've no idea if the plan is to run and I don't have a line to American form so I'm hoping RPRs are in the right ballpark as they have it top rated ahead of Notable Speech and Rosallion both on ORs of 122 so they're hardly world-beaters themselves. It's also entered in the Sussex so maybe they're serious about coming over here and seeing how they get on against the best we have to offer, which, let's face it, isn't much.

Kotari. Goodwood 6.40 tomorrow .
Rattled off a hat trick last spring. Middle victory a 10 length romp off tomorrow's mark.
Ran well in a class 2 handicap last September off 86.. 77 tomorrow. Definite chance on a going day . 25/1.

I'm having a little ew go on Doddington Guy - Sandown 5.00

A first-time handicapper, of which there's more than one in the race, it will come as no surprise that they'll have been hiding his light under a bushell. Drifted out to 33/1 this morning, which I rather like.

One for tomorrow
Showering 3.35 York 20/1 paddy power
Completely unexposed after just 3 runs
Carries a nice low weight and is open to lots more of improvement
Can't see the 20/1 lasting long.

Green pursuit 1.50 York tomorrow 40/1 Ladbrokes
I cannot believe that this is the complete outsider of the field here.
The form of his last race at York is decent with 2 winners having come from that race.
If ridden with more restraint tomorrow a big run could be forthcoming.
The addition of blinkers and the decent form of the stable are also positives.
Fingers crossed for a big run at huge odds🤞

Modern Times 1.50 York.l tomorrow 33/1 W Hill
I have decided to add this to Green Pursuit in this race.
Has joined Tim Easterby from Ian Jardine and has shown decent form mainly at Newcastle on the artificial surface.
Looks fairly handicapped on the best of his form and looks a decent each way bet in an open looking race.

York 3.35 - Sixtygeesbaby 25/1, 5 plces - I put it up on the race thread the other evening when the best odds were 18/1 but it was as long as 28s earlier today. I said I wold hold off for an hour or two so I goes and has my Weetabix and the fecker is blue pretty much across the board. I have managed to get something on at 25s and will stick with that.

Modern Times ran a decent race to finish 4th at 33/1
Nice bit of place money👍🏻
