The 2025 Racing League

Cephalus 7.45 Southwell 20/1
Andaleep 8.15 Southwell 10/1
Tattersall 8.45 Southwell 33/1

When this 7,853/1 treble cops tomorrow, I'll be hiring John Rhys Davies to announce my metamorphosis into Zeus after racing (It's an I, Claudius thing).

I only have to think (I don't even have to say it out loud) a horse's name and it shortens.

It's only me and the late John Hurt's Emperor Caligula in "I, Claudius" who can/could do this.

Early days, though - plenty of time to drift right back out again.

You sure that's not just Slim following you in with one of his weapons of mass destruction. A 10k trixie on the AW will always get them running for the hills.

Bosh has also been heavily punted today quite fancy this to get the job done tonight. Worth watching his last run and Southwell and realising he's down 11lbs price gone now but think he's got a cracking chance.

Joking aside, what I'm sure about is that, although stronger than the rancidly-weak overnight markets, it still doesn't take much at this stage to shorten one.

I never start feeling smug about backing a steamer until they're going in the stalls or lining up at the tapes and it's held it's shortened price and not drifted out again.

As stated, I wouldn't put you off Bosh for one second.

It's Thursday night!

It's "Suthull!"

Bring it on!

The betting in these racing leagues in particular seems like even more of a roller coaster than normal.

The punt on Ormolulu seems insane was about 10's generally into what 11/4. Whilst id of given it a chance who'd want to be anywhere near it at that price. 5 times CD winner but a lot of those were off much lower marks. For a horse thats hit trouble in running in its last 3 consecutive runs and can at times be slow from the gate this is a bigger field and she's off a slightly higher mark. She was travelling really well in those last 3 runs but she's pretty good at 6f and they were all over 7f its not saying she wouldn't of flattered to decieve had she of had clear runs in those. Whilst the drop back to 6 and return to Southwell are positives she's just as likely not to get a clear passage here. You'd have to be a brave sole to be punting her at the current odds.

Now I've dissed her she's about 4/7 on to nut my selection of course. And tbh who am I to talk when I've Forecasted that old dog Rohaan with Bosh. I'm a glutton for punishment.

Chapman said he's not going to be there, he's on a family holiday commitment apparently😄

As for the racing Noodle Mission is the bet of the night, i think Transparent will win as well👍

I’ve backed Cotswold Cottage today, but more out of necessity than fancying her. She’s a perfect example of bad race planning from the new trainer. She was entered in a very winnable race at Ffos Las, but instead they’ve been lured by the prize money at Southwell.

I’m certain she’s well handicapped, but the reality is her form so far is just beating the bollocks out of 50-rated horses. Today it’s a 0–80 with 12 runners. Yes, she’s on a featherweight, but weight carried doesn’t matter when you’re going that bit faster from the start compared to her last few runs.

I think she’ll run well, maybe sneak a place, but race planning is the difference between throwing away the price of a bet on her and putting one up on the Will Win Thread.

I agree Danny.but I'm on at 10/1.

Unaccustomed as I am to backing horses that are running in the racing league I have just spoken to a friend whose horse ran behind:
FIERCE 6:45 Suvvall
He was impressed by this horse and looking into it's form it runs off 77 (last time out run off 78 beat a horse rated 87 by a length giving it 8 pounds).
Trained by straight as a die Paul Midgeley.
Might risk a few shekels @ 10/1

Dunno if some firms were still paying 4 places in the first after the Nrs today but a cracking effort from Cotswold Slim.

Well that went well 22/1 into 11/2 doesn't even frame. Aberama gold who would've been one of the last ones id of backed drifts from favourite to double figure price and wins with numerous hard luck stories in behind do many id have to watch it again to see what was what. Racing league not for the faint hearted.

Over to Ian on the anchor leg to pull off that miracle treble.

Looks like its been scrapped for next year

Being replaced with 'Friday Night Live' aimed at 18-25 year olds, story on RP behind a paywall as usual

Should just call it 'The Hundred'
