The 2026 Cheltenham Gold Cup

Jimmy Mangan running and risking Spillane's on ground that surely will be too fast, must be one of the stories of the race.

Good luck to him.

Gun to the head, I think Jango might relish this distance.

Spillane's is a horse I've followed for a while, was chuffed to see him return to form the last day. After literally years of seeing the horse taken out of races because of good ground I am surprised Mangan wants to risk it.

I have always liked Harry Redknapp and would be pleased for him if his horse won too.

I also love to see a good handicapper progress so wouldn't begrudge Curtis's horse running well.

Stick those four in the reverse tricast..! :)

I'd say imo the Gold Cup seems quite an open race

It might not have been the best Cheltenham Gold Cup field ever assembled, but (needless to say) the horse that won it was exceptional.

Not many horses have so much speed and stamina - from runner up in the Fred Winter to this.

It was an exceptional ride by PT as well. To keep the lid on a horse that is about to burst and be able to just about switch him off was pure class.

I didn't forgive him for being beaten off 129 in Fred Winter and still haven't.
Fred Winter/Ballymore/Arkle/gap year /Gold Cup is the kind of route you couldn't make up.
A Sweeps Hurdle/Gold Cup double done previously by Captain Christy .
When Willie only declared one it said it all...

I was trying to think of a horse in history he reminded me of

Captain Christy in terms of levels?

The only gripe I have is that Fact to File wasn't allowed to take his chance to make it another epic battle.

2 top class race horses.
