OMNICAT lurches across the track without Eddie Ahern, while Spencer looks on aboard Horatio Carter

As Omnicats course changes , the source of Spencers concern is to become apparent
2977022Doncaster10Nov07Omnicatunsea.jpg

OMNICAT leaves Ahern ahurting
2977023Doncaster10Nov07Omnicatunsea.jpg

and heads straight for the new leader, INCOMPARABLE ridden by Sanders
2977025Doncaster10Nov07Incomparable.jpg

who just manages to avoid being put throught the rail and hangs on to win..2 up... but its all too confusing for Edward Whitaker apparently!

in the next Spencer has MINUS FIFTEEN infront but PREMIER DANSEUR on the left is finishing best

Spencer knows he's been done on the line aboard MINUS FIFTEEN and remains minus two

PREMIER DANSEUR

Spencer goes to post for the fourth aboard GENEROUS THOUGHT
2977047Doncaster10Nov07Spencergoest.jpg

and whips the crowd into a frenzy when charging to the front to pull one back

GENEROUS THOUGHT and Spencer return
2977049Doncaster10Nov07GenerousThou.jpg

a quick shot before heading back to the weigh in

Sanders has no ride in the next and Spencer heads to post aboard the favourite GULL WING
2977055Doncaster10Nov07GullWing.jpg

but found difficulties in running to let Sanders off the hook as GOWER SONG and Lake Toya fought out the finish

Its Sanders and BORDERLESCOTT still in front yards from the line in The Wentworth Stakes as Zidane and Spencer ease up
2977066Doncaster10Nov07GaleotawinsT.jpg

But Galeota and Ryan Moore inch ahead to deny Sanders
2977070Doncaster10Nov07GaleotawinsT.jpg

GALEOTA has done Sanders and once again its too much to cope with for Edward Whitaker!

GALEOTA

The jockeys route to the paddock was taking longer as the afternoon went on
2977079Doncaster10Nov07SandersandSp.jpg

Sanders has one outside chance remaining with Spencer on two favs...and tension beings to show!

JOHN TERRY and Sanders are led out to the track for the November Handicap
2977082Doncaster10Nov07JohnTerry.jpg

followed by PIPPA GREENE and Spencer
2977085Doncaster10Nov07PippaGreene.jpg

but neither could find enough in the last two furlongs when MALT OR MASH went to the front under Ryan Moore
2977088Doncaster10Nov07MaltOrMashwi.jpg

Perhaps a measure of perspective on proceedings that the two main races of the day were won by Ryan Moore
2977095Doncaster10Nov07MaltOrMashaf.jpg

Kevin Darley had the last ride of his career in the November Handicap and after his emotional speech he was found lacking for a turn of foot
2977105Doncaster10Nov07Retirementpr.jpg

Family and friends came out to see him off

KD signals his fancy for the next as he had left his mobile in the weighing room

The final race gets underway and with Sanders' ride withdrawn Spencer needs to win aboard INCHNADAMPH to draw level and share the title
2977110Doncaster10Nov07Inchnadamphs.jpg

the crowd roared the field past the stands with a circuit to go, festival style
2977111Doncaster10Nov07Inchnadamphy.jpg

Spencer produces INCHNADAMPH to hit the front inside the final quarter mile
2977112Doncaster10Nov07Inchnadamphw.jpg

and starts to forge clear
2977115Doncaster10Nov07Inchnadamphw.jpg

in no danger , INCHNADAMPH is not stopping
2977118Doncaster10Nov07Inchnadamphw.jpg

and Spencer screams with relief
2977120Doncaster10Nov07Inchnadamphw.jpg

its all over
2977124Doncaster10Nov07Inchnadampha.jpg

2977125Doncaster10Nov07Inchnadampha.jpg

Breathtaking - what a treat!! Lets start every week like this :xmasrudolf:

thanks so very much for sharing, UG

how nice of darely to give his fancy for the last away too :)

WOW!!!!!!!

I thought I saw the back of your head snapping away at Doncaster UG so hoped you would share some of them with us - but I wasn't expecting a pictorial of the whole meeting! Absolutely fantastic and this has made my week! Thanks!

Any chance of a series of photos of Eddie Ahern on the ground for me for Xmas UG,would cheer me up just looking at them anytime i felt down!Great pics as always you consumate professional you! norty

It pains me to say it on account of how it might go to his head, but this is the work of genius (especially with the incidental humiliation of the hapless Mr Whitaker); it's just a pity that there isn't some sort of horseracing photographer of the year type award upcoming. I feel a book coming out.......

Fantastic stuff UG!

Particularly like the one of Seb and Jaime heading out for the November Handicap.. the tension on Seb's face is palpable!

The photos are OK, but would have liked to more of Thommo. All we got was his right fist, and what is that good for?
