OMNICAT lurches across the track without Eddie Ahern, while Spencer looks on aboard Horatio Carter

As Omnicats course changes , the source of Spencers concern is to become apparent

OMNICAT leaves Ahern ahurting

and heads straight for the new leader, INCOMPARABLE ridden by Sanders

who just manages to avoid being put throught the rail and hangs on to win..2 up... but its all too confusing for Edward Whitaker apparently!

in the next Spencer has MINUS FIFTEEN infront but PREMIER DANSEUR on the left is finishing best

Spencer knows he's been done on the line aboard MINUS FIFTEEN and remains minus two

PREMIER DANSEUR

Spencer goes to post for the fourth aboard GENEROUS THOUGHT

and whips the crowd into a frenzy when charging to the front to pull one back

GENEROUS THOUGHT and Spencer return

a quick shot before heading back to the weigh in

Sanders has no ride in the next and Spencer heads to post aboard the favourite GULL WING

but found difficulties in running to let Sanders off the hook as GOWER SONG and Lake Toya fought out the finish

Its Sanders and BORDERLESCOTT still in front yards from the line in The Wentworth Stakes as Zidane and Spencer ease up

But Galeota and Ryan Moore inch ahead to deny Sanders

GALEOTA has done Sanders and once again its too much to cope with for Edward Whitaker!

The jockeys route to the paddock was taking longer as the afternoon went on

Sanders has one outside chance remaining with Spencer on two favs...and tension beings to show!

JOHN TERRY and Sanders are led out to the track for the November Handicap

followed by PIPPA GREENE and Spencer

but neither could find enough in the last two furlongs when MALT OR MASH went to the front under Ryan Moore

Perhaps a measure of perspective on proceedings that the two main races of the day were won by Ryan Moore

Kevin Darley had the last ride of his career in the November Handicap and after his emotional speech he was found lacking for a turn of foot

Family and friends came out to see him off

KD signals his fancy for the next as he had left his mobile in the weighing room

The final race gets underway and with Sanders' ride withdrawn Spencer needs to win aboard INCHNADAMPH to draw level and share the title

the crowd roared the field past the stands with a circuit to go, festival style

Spencer produces INCHNADAMPH to hit the front inside the final quarter mile

and starts to forge clear

in no danger , INCHNADAMPH is not stopping

and Spencer screams with relief

its all over

so that's what it was all for

It pains me to say it on account of how it might go to his head, but this is the work of genius (especially with the incidental humiliation of the hapless Mr Whitaker); it's just a pity that there isn't some sort of horseracing photographer of the year type award upcoming.
