The Cheltenham Festival 2025

Where were the British stayers ? Never be afraid of one horse . GDC never looked entirely happy and the less positive tactics were a surprise . The winner appeared to love the ground and left GDC for dead.

Yes, Mark Walsh has just said he felt Paul wasn't happy on Galopin.

Will the winner now run in the National?

If I was a backer I'd be cashing out. Alverton, Master Oats, Garrison Savannah...

Have to say I was gobsmacked when he was not entered for Gold Cup after Leopardstown.
Delighted for all associated with him but a pity Keith did not keep the ride even if Mark deserves it after years as second fiddle.
Imagine Mark's first Festival winner was a spare for WPM in 2016.

GDC never got into a rhythm in that, undoubtedly the faller didn't do him any favours mid race either. What a performance by the winner though, travelled beautifully and powered away. Must be nailed on for the National but at 5/2 he can win without my money!

Gutted that he (GDC) couldn't do it to get a 3rd Cheltenham Gold Cup, but he never looked happy and looked a bit laboured.

Fair play to the winner he has flown up the hill.

Corbetts Cross, Inothewayurthinkin and Monty’s Star, all second-season novices, could improve past a few of these but I wouldn’t want to put money on it. Walsh has opted for the young horse but I reckon something would need to happen to the favourite for him to win.

Had to happen...

My Mate Mozzie Grand Annual Chase.
Inothewayurthinkin without the fav Gold Cup.
Whatever Emmet runs in a handicap.
Croke Park will rattle whatever he meets in a Novice chase.
Kopek Des Bordes monster material.
Home By The Lee Stayers Hurdle 3 year record 7-5-3; will he do it this year ?
Marine Nationale improving with every run, Danny Mullins ride of the weekend only did for him today.
If only I listened to myself properly....

Yes I think this was deciding factor. GdC never looked as comfortable on the ground compared to the winner who looked superb in the paddock - he was goose-stepping which is always an indicator that he felt brilliant

Just having a look through some of the alternative markets and cant help but think that Mark Walsh @7/1 is exceptional value considering the firepower he has for JP, anyone care to talk me out of it??
Saved my day today fair play to him, would have preferred to see history made but the financial reward softens the blow!

Poor Corbetts Cross R.I.P. So far as Galopin was concerned, the market called it. He was weak latterly.

Not an easy race to work out I will agree, DO!! I can only go on GB form so here are a few views of mine
Angels Breath got beaten FTO by an OK pointer but he'd be out of his depth here. Once useful, he was easily beaten by Shearer.
Angels Dawn I think has a huge chance. She's already won the Kim Muir here.
Fairly Famous should go well despite only finishing 3rd at Stratford behind Lift Me Up and What A Glance. FF has won here and Gina will be a huge plus round here.
I'd be surprised if Lift Me up is good enough despite his celeb owners! He's improved this season but I still think he's not good enough against some of these.
It's On the Line was unlucky to get mugged last year and is only 8 - DOC on board - what's not to like?
Other GB form I don't think is strong enough against these quality Irish runners.

So I've taken a huge pun on Plan of Attack - probably not as good but he was a decent horse and has been fiddling around in Cross Country races for a while. Sluiced in last time in a point and is a big price. But its one of my daft hunches so probably not one to hang your mortgage on!
A good run for your money Jinny.i joined you.

Well sadly I knew diddly squat about the Foxhunters winner! Apart from it used to be with Bowens and had a first time tongue tie on today - why on earth didn't they try it!?

Another one for the first time headgear stat! I didn't back him but this angle seems to always produce something.

No Ordinary Joe and Doyen Quest meet the criteria in the lucky last.
