The Cheltenham Festival 2025

Hi,IMO te better years for punterscoin ciide with the bette ground.
h
Not including the handicaps, I don't know about you, but I do get the feeling this year could be a favourites/maybe 2nd favourites year ?

It might be just because I have had more time to spend this year, perhaps to much time to analyse the horses. But they do seem a cut above average, so much so I have been tempted to do some whacky combined bets on them. I think apart from the Bumper, Mares Novice, Mares Chase Ryanair Chase and maybe the Triump I can't see past the first two in the market. Even in these races the winner could easily be the fap or 2nd fav. Any thought's ?
Io,the better yearsf

As the guy screamed passing each floor after jumping out a tall building. So far so good. Like him fav backers could come to a sudden halt and it's game over for all those ante post accies.
The horses most are depending on are Kopek Des Borders Jonbon Constitution Hill Marjborough and Gallopin Des Champs..while non runner won't be end of story due to NRNB one defeat will spell disaster for thousands of punters...I don't remember one year when all the so called good things won so I doubt if this year will be any different but we live in hope.

I think Jonbon is the vulnerable one in any short-priced accas. His record at Cheltenham is no more than alright, and he hasn’t exactly scared away the opposition. There’s plenty of good 2-milers in Ireland, none of whom should be underestimated. He should be 2/1, not odds-on.

I have managed to this year get myself in a good position going in to Cheltenham. So much so I have managed to cover almost every angle and still make a profit on the non handicap races apart from the Bumper. I have been placing bets since the Olympics.

I don't usually do doubles on different horses yet alone 12 folds (lol). But a month ago when NRMB became an option, I thought why not. It's amazing how much it pays, a £2.00 -12 fold was over a million then, Sir Gino has since come out so my bet will now be an 11 fold. I know it's highly unlikely to happen, but you just never know 🤞.

If that 11 fold comes in there will be no betting industry left in Ireland or England.

Which horses do you have in that 11 fold?

It's confession time, sorry I have just had a recheck of my bets, it was a month ago 😅. No the 12 fold fap bet only paid approx £12,500 or £28,000 for £2.00 depending whether you had Fact To File or Il Est Francais winning the Ryanair Chase. It was my 9 fold 2nd fav ew fold that pays over a million 😃, again I have had 2 goes Gaelic Warrior replacing Spillanes Tower in the Ryanair.

These are the 11 selections in the fap x 2

Tuesday .......
Kopek Des Bordes (Supreme Novices’ Hurdle)
Brighterdaysahead (Mares’ Hurdle)
Constitution Hill (Champion Hurdle)
Wednesday .......
Final Demand (Turner's Novices’ Hurdle)

Jonbon (Champion Chase)
Thursday......
1. Fact to File 2. Il Est Francais (Ryanair)
Teahupoo (Stayers’ Hurdle)
Friday ......
Lulamba (Triumph Hurdle)
The Yellow Clay (Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle)
Galopin Des Champs (Gold Cup)

These are the 9 selections ew in the 2nd favs x 2

Tuesday .......
Majborough (Arkle Trophy)
Lossiemouth (Champion Hurdle)
Wednesday .......
The New Lion (Turner's Novices’ Hurdle)
Dancing City (Brown Novice Chase)
Il Est Francais (Champion Chase)

Should get off to a good start at least. Looks a beast in the opener.

Good luck!

Yes. I remember once when I fancied quite a few on the one day I built an acc at B365 and it was showing a return of something like £10m for £1. Obviously they were not going to pay out more than £1m so I reduced the stake to about 10p, thinking 'no point in chucking away 90p!

It was only some time later I realised there was more chance of the place portion being landed and that would have been well within the limits and the vastly reduced stakes would obviously reduce any place return.

I think the bet went down at the first or second leg anyway :ROFLMAO:

After that, instead of building an acc that went into the £mm I'd take out what I felt was the weakest candidate and keep the odds within 1m/1. My thinking was that there was more chance of being lucky that way than doing the lottery.

It's something I very rarely try nowadays, maybe just once or twice a year or if my ITV7 selections are all races I've studied (very rare) and the acc comes to a lot more than the £50k prize.

bookies limits need serious amendments if a punter is backing ante post. Let's say he has backed a 6 horse accie and the first 5 win and he has £250k going on to his last selection at 2/1 he could lose everything if it loses but gain nothing more if it wins....surely he should be paid the £250k and the last leg be void?

I don't know what the formula is for offering cashouts but I imagine it would be pretty healthy in that situation.

The last time I got the first leg of a double up they offered me to cash out at the win return of the first leg. (I should have taken it )

If a miracle should happen, I think I may well be cashing out 😆. This is not my usual style, I am tight when it comes to money, but something is saying to me this could happen. Like I said before, I have spent far too much time on Cheltenham this year, but it has kept me sane I think 😃.

I've got the likes of Lossiemouth, Gaelic Warrior, Marine Nationale, Jubilee Alpha, Sixandahalf and East India Dock as the second half of rollovers with horses I've backed over the winter who were too short for me in singles. That's my usual strategy.

Unusually though I didn't have any ante-post bets before the winter part of the season started so my only nice price fancies going into the week will be Workahead in the Supreme (20s), William Munny in the same race (25s) and Only by Night in the Mares (25s)

My stroke of genius, not really it was a covering bet, was my decision to back Jango Baie for the Arkle at 470 on bf. You have picked out a few there that I have not got covered (lol). I will have to go in search of some more free bets (lol).

I read somewhere there is a limit on cash outs and it was very low.
That aside apart from my Constitution Hill bets I have been very active in the NRNB market with several different combinations. Kopek Des Borders heads 3 of them. 1 with Constitution Hill and Ballyburn. 2. With Constitution Hill, Brighterdaysahead, Majborough. 3. Same again but with Galopin Des Champs.
Jonbon is the next one I need to win....other less important are the new lion factofile
Jonbon lulamba Teehupoo and Galopin Des Camps would be a good payout for me. All that's needed now is for the big bang we always get when one of our good things bites the dust...just hope to hell it's not Constitution Hill 😉

With such big odds & given that restrictions would apply in the unlikely event what about building an acca/a couple of accas using a nap/naps?

Do you think the faps for the non handicaps look this good every year ? Is this year unusual, could they all win, they do seem a cut above average. I do think the 2nd fav's may be the obstacle, but beyond that apart from the Ryanair most the races don't seem to have much depth 🤔.

On paper the should all just about win but fences and hurdles aren't made of paper. One bad mistake at the wrong time and all your dreams and aspirations have been shattered. Horses like Jonbon and the novice Majborough are somewhat high risk bets in reality. Constitution Hill"s performances so far this season have been miles short of his 2022/23 efforts and by rights on paper Lossiemouth considering she never went a yard last time should turn the table on him. It's fine Nico saying he was only 80% fit but it's hard to believe Nicky would have run him if he didn't think he was much fitter than that.
So much can go wrong and it only takes one to spoil the party for thousands of ante post punters

Agree with everything you say. But I do believe this year the quality of the fap and in some case 2nd fav is high, and therefore it will only be an obstacle that prevents them from winning.
