The Cheltenham Festival 2025

I don't know about everyone else, but it's the only thing on my mind (apart from the National (lol)).

I don't think I have ever been so excited by Cheltenham. Well maybe there was one year 1988, my sister's boyfriend Trevor took me. I will try and keep this story short, but I think it's worth telling. I was on the dole when Trevor paid for me to go, and we stopped off for a drink in Cheltenham before going to the course. We sat at a table with Irish race goers, the guy next to me was busy studying his RP. I asked him if he had any tips, he gave me a selection for each race.

Kribensis 6/1
Certain Light 9/1
Charter Party 10/1
Aquilifer 9/2

I could not remember his other two selections, so I don't know if he tipped these two.

Private Views 7/1
Cashew King 9/1

Nethertheless it goes without saying, I was able to pay Trevor back 😃. If only I had done a 4 fold bet on those first 4 🤔 😁.
I backed Private Views -he turned into a total psycho after that race.

I was born and grew up in a post-war council scheme 3-bed semi just north of Clydebank. The immediate area was called Goldenhill but really only the local primary school, the park (where the Antonine Wall remains are located) and the pub are known by that name. To us it was always [the] Hardgate (pronounced locally 'The Hargit') and I went to school in Duntocher (home of the famous Duntocher Hibs, for whom Pat Crerand played before moving to Celtic) so when people ask me where I'm from I usually say Duntocher (locally 'o' as in 'fore' and 'ch' as in loch, although my old man always insisted the 'o' should be pronounced as in 'for'). His family on his mother's side was original Duntocher stock, his father from 2nd generation Irish immigrant stock who came during the famine via Toxteth. I think his father may have been born there. My dad always insisted I was 1/8 English. I think that was to annoy me.

Moved to EK when I got married and came to Strathaven in 1996 after fluking the purchase of a self-build plot which allowed us to build this on teachers' wages. (It's actually a photo of the Jag taken when I was selling it but it gives you an idea about the house.) I have other photos of the house on file somewhere but can't locate them right now.)

He was trained by Nick Gaselee? He ran up a sequence of wins and looked very good then started to refuse to race? I’m pretty sure he had a physical issue and broke down which was probably a reason for the refusing to race as before he’d looked a serious horse.

Fairly sure it was Nick Gaselee who trained him. He definitely started a race at Lingfield sometime in the 1980s and then refused to go round the tight left-hand bend after the stands.

Well it had to come Brighterdaysahead already confirmed for the Champion Hurdle.
I had her in a few of my accies all NRNB...so I cashed them out and replaced her with Lossiemouth NRNB which increases all my returns on those accies if she wins
