The Craven Meeting

I bet for me today- Swiss Spirit in the 3.0, solid e/w prospects at a fair price. A horse to follow according to the "experts".

I like Solar Deity in the 3.00, won nicely on debut. If it were a handicap he would be receiving weight, and i would fancy him strongly, but at the prices i cant let him go unbacked. Botti's horses appear to me to need a run before showing their form. His 4th, 2 weeks ago, at Kempton should have brought him on fitness wise, but this was still a good run. The 2nd (Amazing Storm) is 2nd Favourite for the last race today, in what looks a strong handicap.

In the maiden (5.20) i thought the Johnston horse, Rainbow Gold, was over priced (25-1). Just gone to back him and he is 10-1. Dont think ill back him at that price, but wish id taken the 25's this morning!

I bet it's nice down there, we are 30 odd miles West of Newmarket and it's raining Datsun Cogs with a bloody cold wind to boot!

Well done Pricewise. I thought it was going to win it.

Nine Realms looked more than useful in the opener. Half-brother to Aqlaam from the family of Persian Punch, no less.

Won't be much to take from these two days formlines,a pity as these two days usually give a few nice pointers for later on,false form these races especially if when they start racing on decent ground.

The going doesn't appear to be as bad as we might think. Officially (at least) it was Good 8.3 this morning, so on the soft side of good now after a bit of rain today and tonight.

Someone emailed me last night and told me they'd had loads of rain and had to be gd/sft at best, the times were desperate and the result of the 4.10 told you how bad the ground was.I'm glad they did as saved me a few quid, plus got me the ppot up!

Isn't it time some of these race conditions were looked at. Ransom Note gives a Group 1 winner 5lbs tomorrow. What a load of old sh1t.

Its surely in the interest of early season races like the Earl of Sefton not to discourage Group winners from last summer. The cut off date for penalties is August 31st btw.
