The King George

Could someone remind Clive that even if Cue Card stays 3 miles around a flat course at a decent pace (he doesn't), that won't help him stay the Gold Cup trip as it's not 3 miles - thanks! :D

So if the betfair was run at a crawl (yeah right) but the time showed it was a 2m 7f race at at a standard pace (and I'm with do here) then well where are we?

It was run over what? 2m 5f?

They lost three quarters of a mile or something?

I get shirty at rather ridiculous dismissals of horses. Such as yours about TNO, which were pretty ott.

I have clearly explained why TNO isn't a 2 mile championship horse Clive..the explanation bores you but it is based on logic...he isn't much faster in a finish than a novice hurdler based on his run at Cheltenham..hence he wins no Champion Hurdles...stayers maybe;)

i've estimated it was about 2m7f Clive...about the point where CC weakened yesterday;)

he doesn't stay 3m in a championship race basically..imo..on what i've seen..if he did..he would have beaten SC who is inferior to him on all known form

Clive, even if he stayed yesterday, he would have been unlikely to stay the Gold Cup distance (extra 2.5 furlongs, stiffer track). Hence, we can safely say he will not be winning a Gold Cup.

It was In response to above post that it was not run at a pace ec. Which was bollocks of course

????

So if he had stayed and won hard held that proves he wouldn't have stayed another 2f?

This gets weirder.

I'm off to kempton now.. Thank fck

cue card ran an excellent race, superb jumps all the way round, seems to have
a jumping style that uses bit more energy than other jumping styles, on the evidence of KG run and from other peoples opinions, dont think the horse stays
3 miles to be a formidable force at the top level. best horses finished 1st and 2nd in the race SC OR 173 CC OR 174.

Not yet, but its a fair point whether its tongue in cheek or not. Cue Card not staying 3 miles is Still not proven in my mind. I assume those same people are suggesting the same with Al Ferof? Probably not, that'll be the going right-handed, the ground, etc!

I'm with Clive on this. The King George is an entirely different race to the Gold Cup, and Cue Card 'acts'' around Cheltenham whereas he doesn't appear to give his best around Kempton. Of course he may not get the Gold Cup trip but I still haven't seen anything that proves he doesn't.

I've never been a fan of the whole "take out such and such" argument myself.

He looked to me like he was going to empty like One Man up the hill, but then didn't.

The jury is out and arguing for a majority verdict against him staying for me. But there might be a Henry Fonda out there.

Even if Cue Card had won by 11 lengths, he still emptied in the last half furlong and won't get an extra two and a half furlongs up the Cheltenham hill. Should go for the Ryanair again.

Cue Card doesn't stay three miles, anything that stops like it's been shot is a surefire non-stayer - How do you explain The Betfair Chase then? well, I guess you have to put it down to the larger trainers who leave more on their horses earlier on in the season with bigger prizes in sight.

Love cue card but didnt stay last year didnt stay this year. They have to go Ryanair route surely,he will be a shoe in......or the QMCC if the aeroplane is grounded.
