The King George

Heartbreaking for the horse.

Financially that turned my day around but still, hard to watch.

delighted but almost feel sorry for cue card. absolutely superb performance of jumping and galloping.

front two both excellent today.

At least my Ryanair bets are still live after this.

Fair play to SC - probably just about deserves a top prize, and was very good today.

I said on another thread after the betfair that I thought SC would win the gold cup as he was the real stayer in the field so I'm on for the GC but backed Cue Card today so it was a bitter sweet race for me..... Cue Card just stopped coming to the last. He must have traded short in running.

Cue Card blatantly doesn't stay, Betfair must have been 2 mile 6

Beyond a joke that Haydock have not confirmed the distance nor the authorities have asked them the question, feel for Cue Card a very classy horse but has to go back to the Ryanair which he wins doing handstands.

Disappointed with Al Ferof who struggling some way out, ran into a place but only because Mount Benbulben cannot jump.

Pleased Sc won as he is a horse that has sometimes been a bit strangely underrated (not least on here ...but thay hardly matters) and hes wona good few bob for me. But with CC are we being told that the betfair was run over a mile less or something? Whatever the supposed error over distance it cant have been THAT much. And that being so, he stays.

Is it possible that the slight virus around yard emptied him today?

Didnt say that. But the idea that he doesnt stay 3m is wrong IMO. 3m 2f on firmer ground? wouldnt rule it out at all

More likely to be the going plus the fact that he did not have a "soft" lead.
He was always harried just a little through the race.
He might just be a tad better going left handed.
The changes to Kempton since AW track had made it far more testing for front runners imo.
The pity is that Haydock have totally changed the nature of their track as posted previously.

Well the Dynaste bubble has completely burst?

Following the same downhill path of Grands Crus

He can get 3m sure but its either the Ryanair or the Gold Cup and neither are 3m, I cannot see how he can go for the latter after the way he emptied today, Ohio Gold ran a blinder today and CC ran great up to the run in cant be blaming any virus.

Can we just say that Cue Card is a good horse. But he was never going to win the Gold Cup before today and still isn't after today. People confuse the right type of form with the wrong type of race.

Some front runners won today Edgt. Not sure about that and cant see how it affected.

Other points fair but although "harried" his jumping was up to speed

No. why?

and that is a bit patronising

And no one is going to say "never" because no one knows for certain.

FFS . There have been far less likely winners of the big race

No one is "blaming" It may or may not be the case and its rubbish to assume taht such a thing affects every horse around the yard in exactly the same way

What's patronising about calling him a good horse? But it's as plain as the nose on your face that he's not a Gold Cup horse. I thought he had a chance today but not in the Gold Cup. I blame the forum polls... majority opinion is often well wrong.;) (Then again majority opinion will surely have changed again after today.)

Dynaste was my fancy for the race today, but again not for the Gold Cup.

The reading of the form bit. :)

No matter. I suppose the never word always bugs me. At a price he's worth a look still I believe.

Terrific ride by Noel Fehily on SC.
Over a distance too short and a course that didn't suit, he had to serve it up to one of the best jumpers in the game and, had he ridden at all differently, Cue Card would now be favourite for the CGC.
The latter lost absolutely nothing in defeat, but I'd lay odds against him even running in the race, after today.

The thing about Cue Card is just how quick he emptied after the second last. That point may have been half a furlong after the winning line in Haydock. Had he fallen at the second last every reliable race-reader would be calling him the moral winner.

5/2 Cue Card with Billy's to win any race at the festival is fantastic if they opt for the Ryanair shoe-in, close to guaranteed in the QMCC if god forbid anything happens to SS between now and then and not without a chance if he heads for the Gold Cup.

On today's evidence, I'm afraid he has next to no chance in a Gold Cup, Lee - he was as blatant a non-stayer as you will find.

He is an absolute stick-on for the Ryanair though.

The biggest problem re Gold Cup for CC is how quickly going can deteriorate in a day or two through the festival.
Going is often atrittional for Gold Cup compared even to the previous day.
Ryanair definitely a safer option.
