Have had a look at the race on Saturday, I wouldn't put anyone off the current favourite, but I'm looking at Galizzi for John Ferguson down the bottom of the weights for an each way.

He ran quite well at Ascot on the flat in a 100k flat race when finishing 6th, so he doesn't hate a right handed track by any means , (as his hurdles win at Perth demonstrates). His comeback run at Cheltenham was good where he was second, and as a totally unexposed horse, I reckon he might appreciate the step up in grade and a proper gallop. I could see him running a big race and finishing in the first four.

I'm keen on Sternrubin in this race. His back-end races last season put him roughly 10lb behind Lil Rockerfellar, which if they'd both progressed at a similar rate would make him a c. 140 horse with the form the latter has since shown, yet he gets in here off 134. That's probably an over simplistic approach but there's an argument that Sternrubin may have progressed the more of the two with 2/2 wins since, both coming in nice fashion. LTO beating the previously unbeaten hurdler John Constanble with the useful novice Ch'Tibello back in 3rd.

I'm not a fan of front running tactics in races of this nature but Dickie - who's riding out of his skin - is no Tom Scudamore and judges these things well, as evidenced last week on Village Vic.

12/1 is a decent price for an improving 4 year old with a low weight.

I like Waxies Dargle. The Greatwood form has been franked and he travelled better than anything that day before running out of puff relative to the winner and runner-up. Think Ascot will suit him.

I'm a fan of Sort it Out but enthusiasm tempered by lack of a prep run (needed first run last season) and the fact BG has chosen the other one. Still he won't run unbacked at 14/1 but I'll have some on Waxies too

What happened Diamond King for Elliott. Last I saw he was 14s with Davy Russell up, really fancied him but looks as tho he's gone from it now.

Wouldn't have thought they'd ship him over for a prep run, particularly with an 85k pot. BG possibly believes 2m not to be his best distance, but his County Hurdle form has been franked time and time again and, given a strong enough pace, ought to be a threat to them all.

I don't know about Diamond King, but Elliot still has Vercingetorix with Jack Kennedy riding. Worth a 2nd look at a massive price, as the trainer's got such a decent record in the race

I've since found out DK has a muscle injury which forced him out. Vercingerorix has been a very frustrating horse to follow.

I will take a (very) small each-way chance that Bidourey might not be too brutally handicapped off 135.........though I do so with absolutely minimum confidence. It's a cracking race this year, but pretty-much unfathomable to this cowboy.

Interesting to see Segal has put up the Elliott raider.

Renneti is not without risk. He's my selection with Vicenzo Mio the alternative.
