The Road To The 2013 Ryanair Chase

I totally agree about the Gold Cup looking like a stayer will win it but the Ryanair? At least 5 ofthe first seven in the betting are very fast horses and the won't all be stopping at the end to let a slower staying type catch them. Looks long odds on a speed horse will win the race

I don't see as FL as this one paced plodder who will be too slow for the race. He out speeded a champion hurdler a couple of years back.

I honestly think they would be bottling it if they went for the Ryanair with FL. Watch the RSA from last year again. He just ran too bloody keen. He's not far off Bobs Worth and if you are close to the likely Gold Cup favourite then I don't see why you should dodge the race. Mouse is also the right man to put one away after Christmas and bring them back for the big day.

If Joe Tizzard can hold Cue Cards jumping together I think it will take a very good performance to lower his colours at Cheltenham.Bit chancy at a few but you know what you get and he's got a great engine if going out in front.love the horse ever since the Bumper.

My heart is in my mouth every fence. I'm no expert on jockey's really, they rarely enter my calcs when weighing up a bet but Tizzard fecks about too much when approaching a fence to me.

I'd agree with that euro.

I'm no expert and I'm not sure if its my eyes deceiving me but the back end of the horse looked to shift markedly to the left when jumping.moreso than I've ever noticed on any other horse

If Sizing heads to the 2-miler, I'm struggling to think what will trouble him, to be honest.

On today's evidence, Captain Chris is probably the biggest danger, but then I'd expect Cue Card to have the course advantage at Chelts (and fewer jumping concerns too).

First Lieutenant wouldn't particularly concern me, as I think he wants further, and I don't rate last year's form at all. Champion Court is the only other entry I'd call a form-threat to any degree, but he was a shade disappointing behind Alasi, and may be slightly flattered in terms of his OR.

I haven't seen any post-race reaction, but I'll be surprised if Tizzard has done anything other than declare the Ryanair as the target.

I know it's not the Gold Cup but this is First Lieutenant's race to lose. Especially with Finian's not in the mix now.

Impossible to back with Tizzard on board. Managed to forfeit lengths on the approach to several fences and particularly chancy at the ditches. Would probably look a half decent jumper with a new jockey. Thankfully today he was being chased by Dickie 'bound to throw in a mistake over the last few fences/hurdles' Johnson.

IMO the trainers a @@@@.If CC was mine he would be gone.at times the trainers ego seems to come first rather than the horse itself.

If Sizing runs here, which unfortunately I highly doubt, he'll absolutely **** up. Nothing in the race. As Grassy mentioned earlier, Champion Court could bounce back but even if he did he wouldn't get near Sizing. Champion Court will get my few quid ew if Sizing and First Lieutenant go QM and GC respectively.

Champion Court is the most overbet horse in training. How he's half the price of For Non Stop I have no idea.
I;m with you 100% on that. He doesn't have the tactical speed to win a Ryanair as was blatantly obvious when he got beat in that 3 horse race at Kempton.

He reminds me of Somersby: Sure to win a big one some day when others run below their best but he definitely falls that bit short of top class
