The sweet sound of Christmas ...

After Monday's Plumpton meeting, I thought, ooh, luvverly! A real late lie-in snorefest for the week - yayyy!

No - early Tuesday morning I was wakened by a herd of bailiffs from the Sheriff's Office battering in the back doors and windows of a shop/flat combo to the side of my flat. It had been very quietly used as a protest squat for a few weeks by some uni students, highlighting the number of empty homes in Brighton. Judging by the sound of smashing, the bangs and thumps, the bailiffs did a good job of vandalising the place which the students - who left weeks ago - failed to do.

Wednesday - the noisy entry phone buzzes. I haven't even got the covers off and it stops after just two blarts. I answer, but no reply. That's it - can't re-sleep and get up, grumping.

Thursday - 6.30: "hellllooooooOOOOO!" outside the door, as an over-cheery carer looks in on my poorly neighbour across the hall. Yes,, hellooooo to you, too, and kindly shaddup!

This morning - 6.00: an all shrieking, shouting, bawling eff-off verbal breaks out - not for the first time - between the fruit & veg stallholder and his partner. This usually ends with him smashing wooden fruit crates and hurling boxes at her. I have triple glazing and he's really going some today with a final EFFFOFFFFFFFFYOU SLAGGGG!!! Needless to say, she is not assisting him with sales today.

7.30: bedside phone rings twice (I've got past Mr Effoff and snoozed by now) and stops. No available number to ring back and wish them a very good morning, too.

Can't wait for tomorrow. And a Happy Christmas, one and all!
