The Tingle Creeek

My old favourite Somersby seems in good heart at the moment
He deserves another grade 1 after banging his head against the wall for years against some top class animals.
Still hoping the aeroplane turns up though.

I don't think I ever expected to see pre-race odds against on Sprinter Sacre, the 2.02 on betfair is surely betting on him running or not. The question is, will it be Betfair or Nicky the needle that will tell us the answer!

The hairs on the back of my neck still stand-up whenever I watch the replay of the 2004 Tingle Creek. Remains one of the greatest races I've ever seen.

Watching the re-runs on RUK, Magnificent
Man the sound of the birch as there jumping is just gorgeous :<3:

A race never to be forgotten

Wish it was. Fcking thread about it here every fcking month

My favourite pre Christmas race! If you can get close to that last fence, even though it's not easy at Sandown, it's incredible...

The arrogance of Nicholls and Walsh were critical factors in the race. Moscow at the height of his powers. In all probability at his best, SS and MM would both beat him, but it would be worth seeing to make sure.

Tingle Creek field:

Captain Conan, His Excellency, Kauto Stone, Mad Moose, Oiseau de Nuit, Sire de Grugy, Somersby, Tataniano, Viva Colonia

Probably.

My comment was a little tongue-in-cheek. Everyone bangs on about the great old days when it was a handicap, but the top horses wouldn't run if it was.

That said, great memories of Azertyuiop narrowly failing to give 19lbs to Isio and Well Chief winning with top weight...

Absolutely, Benny....demonstrating that it was a race that trainers were happy to target with their top 2-milers.

Really not getting the fuss over Sire de Grugy. His limitations were exposed the last day and he's a weak looking favourite to my eyes.

jockey error the last day. burnt him out chasing down a favourite that would have definitely come back to the field toward the end anyway. was a sitting duck for mccoy.

his win over finians rainbow here at the backend of last season is decent form. he's a worthy enough favourite for me.
