Passenger 9/4
Passenger is an intriguing horse. It was the subject of a big gamble on debut, punted from 20/1 into 7/4. It was then off for seven months before staying on over two miles on soft ground—ground it had previously been a non-runner on due to being unsuitable. Today looks like ideal conditions: good ground, an extra two furlongs, and a track more in keeping with its flat pedigree. If he rides this handy, it will take all the beating up the straight.

Cotswold Cottage 3/1
Cotswold Cottage landed a very quiet touch at Windsor on its first run in a handicap off 51. To say it hacked up would be an understatement—and it only got 5 lbs. Connections claimed it didn’t handle the track after nine months off on its last run, which is unusual to even get a comment for a 56-rated horse. The trip today is no concern, and while the horse handles soft ground, I don’t think it particularly needs it. I suspect it has at least a stone in hand and should just be winning.
