Todays Racing

That's the thing with intermittent wind problems - he is a very good horse when he can get some oxygen in !

Johnson said after the race that the key seemed to be to leave his challenge as late as possible. That's two wins and a second in the Old Roan in his last four starts.

Indeed he is - but somehow bless him I suspect pouncing on Sprinter Sacre late is likely to be beyond him .

Paul Nicholls speaking about Pacha de Polder and Michel le Bon after todays wins,

'Pacha de Polder ran a shocker when I fancied him in the Old Roan at Aintree and he obviously has his going days. I told Ryan if he was having a going day, to be very positive.

'He won't be going to Cheltenham, but he might go to Ayr or Aintree.'

'Michel le Bon has been dire the last twice but the blinkers have transformed him,' said Nicholls.

'I haven't seen a horse work as well in first-time blinkers since we put them on See More Business before the Gold Cup.

'I'll maybe look at something like the Topham but we will sit down and make a proper plan.'

A good field for the Grade 3 chase at Cork tomorrow. Call the Police, Roi du Mee and Pandorama are among the nine to line up.

Incidentally, the same race last year only attracted a field of four, the highest rated of which had a mark of 107.

Some cracking races at Fairyhouse, Annie Powers will take some beating in the Grade 1 Mares Novice Hurdle, I have been really impressed with her.

Defy Logic will likely set off in front in the Grade 2 Novice Hurdle, but I think Bright New Dawn, who ran a great race in the Deloitte, will overhaul him.

In the Powers Gold Cup, Oscars Well and Mikael d'Haguenet are the class horses if their jumping holds up. Mount Benbulben, Dedigout, Buckers Bridge and Realt Mor also run in what is a real classy field.

The novice hurdle at Fairyhouse is an absolute belter. My initial reaction was that Bright New Dawn is too big at 4/1 but it really is a deep race. Maybe a stronger field than the Powers Gold cup; I think today will finally be Mikael's day over fences.

I'm attracted to Missunited against the 2/5 Annie Power.
I liked the way she (Missunited) fought back to regain the lead lto at Limerick in the Heavy. Today's tacky going might be in her favour.
If there's any evidence of Winter piling in five minutes before the Off I might have a bet.
