Tougher tests for teachers

I just gutted two bathrooms, re-routed the water supply new tiles, 2 multipoint water heaters 1 new bath 1 shower cubicle, 2 coloured glass sinks, 2 one piece toilets rain showers faucets mirrors etc cost to us before building in a profit margin was 2k and some guy wanted 800 quid from Grey to fix a drainpipe ? :blink: Rip off Britain right enough

How, where, when and why did you learn to do all that?

I'd love to be able to do it. I'm a perfectionist too, which is maybe part of my problem. I won't do anything unless I think I can do it at least as well as a tradesman.

I'd be very unsure about anything to do with plumbing. Fortunately the plumber I normally use is ace. He came in after work one snowy evening to fix a leaking cistern. He arrived about 6.30 and left about 9.30. I stayed with him as he worked (I wanted to see what was involved in the work in case I needed to do it myself some day) and we chatted a fair bit. I was almost wincing as I asked him how much I owed him. "Ach, jist call it a tenner, mate." I said that wasn't even an hour's wage, let alone overtime, let alone the fact he was there for three hours. "Mibbe" he said, "but ah coulda done it in haufanoor!" Brilliant. (I gave him £20.)
