Train Crash This Evening @ Cumbria

Sounds like he did a very professional, cool-headed job. I hope his broken neck can mend and isn't going to lead to any serious disablement, poor guy. What a terrible shock for him, knowing all that tonnage back of the cab is going to come off the rails at some point.

Euro, I'm interested (used to work for a railways nut/publisher!): what safety features - apart from clearly being able to be controlled better - does the Pendolino have that make it superior to older model trains? It's an interesting name - is it an Italian design?

There is the usual discussion now about having train passengers use seat belts. What does the panel think?
 
The Pendolino is of Italian design and means 'tilting'. It's designed to tilt into bends to take them more smoothly and safely at speed.
