Starting on +280.38 yesterday.
None of the afternoon runners did anything, with the major disappointment being Gifford's bumper runner. Maybe could have done with it softer.
So into the evening. And I had a long drive South to North. Just had time to watch The Nutcracker just scrape into a bet at 9.8 3 places and get 3rd, so the day was on +2.8.
Had to place the bets for the last at Wolves early, taking a chance on the prices. Took all of the 32-34 and 50 odd available on my two runners, which looked generous enough on both. Wasn't all matched, but left it riding. I knew the chances of hitting a Services on the motorway at the right time was unlikely.
And so it proved, 8.30 comes, and I'm still 10 minutes from Warwick.
Pulled into Warwick services just to check the result.
And do you know what time it was?
It was...
Time.
To.
Sparkle.
What, you mean like a diamondy diamondy thing, Chaumi?
Yes, exactly like that. The 32/34 shot wins by a short head! (seen it since and it was a real short short head! Would have been mighty exciting). 16-1 SP so I reckon I'd got the best prices and was unlikely to have gone over 34 at any point. And a quick check showed all of it was matched.
The result obviously sparked major scenes of raucous celebration in Chaumi's SEAT Leon 1.4TDI, with the remainder of the drive home spent singing, cheering, and seated 'dancing' to some serious hardcore. Oh, and several gleeful chants of 'what time is it, Chaumi? It's time...to...sparkkkkkllllle'
I must do that again sometime.
It was nice to get an 'inches' result go my way after a couple of close calls the wrong way over the last couple of days.
So the day ended up on +34.8.
Overall +315 for March, rounded down a couple of decimal points.
I do have a confession, though. The bumper loser had put me mildly on tilt. Rarely a good thing. So, with the placer in the early Wolves race + the tilt, I did actually double up on the stakes for the 8.30. Good for the bank, but don't do that at home folks! I got away with it. This time!

On to today. Lots to watch. The Irish handicap hurdles, in particular, are likely ones to avoid. And nothing stands out big time. Had hopes of mid teens on HDB's Raglan Road but nowhere near by the look of it. Hopes are reasonably high that something will put in a good run, at the least, though clearly some have no chance and are pure watchers for the future.
Questionable 1.37 Wexford
