Just thought I would flag this one up early as five day entries out soon which will maybe give everyone chance to plan their entries
With plenty of good racing this weekend primarily at Newbury, Doncaster and Fairyhouse, we will run a Union Jack competition which in its simplest form is a bet on nine selections, consisting of 8 trebles. The competition is designed as a fun one unless of course anyone is feeling generous
For anyone not familiar, this is a bet named after the Union Jack due to the way trebles are determined by laying out the selections in a 3 by 3 grid then drawing lines vertically, horizontally and diagonally to find 8 groups of 3 as in the diagram below. A benefit of this bet is it gives the punter scope to arrange their bets such that their most favoured selections have a greater bearing on returns than their least favoured. Position E appears in 4 trebles, positions A, C, G, I appear in 3 trebles and B, D, F, H only in 2. It is possible to include more than one horse from the same race eg the Hennessy, or even the same horse twice, but you must ensure they don’t occur within the same treble.
Players submit a Union Jack bet on three days Friday Dec 1[SUP]st[/SUP] to Sunday Dec 3[SUP]rd[/SUP], selections can be made from any jump meeting in Britain or Ireland and must be placed before the off time of the first race of the day. NR’s are exactly that and cannot be replaced once you bet has been posted, the relevant treble(s) will be settled accordingly.
Returns will be based on a £1 win Union Jack, losing bets recorded as £0.00.
Bets to be listed in this format please
A) ****** 3.00 Newbury
B) **** ***** 2.30 Doncaster
C) *** **** 1.15 Fairyhouse
and so on down to I)
Jumps meetings are
Fri Dec 1[SUP]st[/SUP]
Newbury, Doncaster, Limerick
Sat Dec 2[SUP]nd[/SUP]
Newbury, Doncaster, Newcastle, Bangor, Fairyhouse
Sun Dec 3[SUP]rd[/SUP]
Carlisle, Leicester,Fairyhouse
Any disputes my decision (and that of any prize donor) is final.
