A friend of mine who is a bit of an ante-post fiend has asked me if I know which irish trained runners are likely to be aimed at the Welsh National. I know that such information is unlikely to be available at the moment, but any pointers would be appreciated. The current entries are as follows:

Beroni (IRE)
W. P. Mullins, *
11st 0lb
Equus Maximus (IRE)
W. P. Mullins, *
10st 9lb
Parsons Pistol (IRE)
N. Meade, *
10st 9lb
Our Monty (IRE)
W. P. Mullins, *
10st 8lb
Arbor Supreme (IRE)
W. P. Mullins, *
10st 8lb
Southern Vic (IRE)
T. M. Walsh, *
10st 7lb
Operation Houdini (IRE)
D. E. Fitzgerald, *
10st 5lb
Bringbackthebiff (NZ)
E. J. O'Grady, *
10st 5lb
Pomme Tiepy (FR)
W. P. Mullins, *
10st 3lb
Ballytrim (IRE)
W. P. Mullins, *
10st 1lb
Selection Box (IRE)
C. A. McBratney, *
10st 0lb

Beroni must be pretty certain to line-up, 8-1 in places and the signs are that he will head to Chepstow.

Abor Supreme may be another. Talk in places of him being an Aintree National candidate so a spin in the Welsh version wouldn't do him much harm (unless of course he won by a distance!!! Good bye decent hcp mark!!)

I was surprised to see that neither of the main Mullins horses were entered in the Paddy Power Chase at Leopardstown. Didn't Mullins mention the big race at Gowran Park in January as the main target for Beroni....so perhaps Our Monty is the one.
